The bimetallic complexes [M(CO)(3)](2)(mu:eta(5):eta(5)-Pn) (Pn = pentalene, C(8)H(6); M = Mn, Re) have been synthesized and characterized crystallographically; the Mn compound was isolated as solely the anti-isomer, while the Re analogue was formed as a mixture of anti- and syn-isomers. [Mn(CO)(3)](2)(mu:eta(5):eta(5)-Pn) may be reduced chemically to its mono- and dianions; the mixed-valence Mn(I)/Mn(0) monoanion is shown by ESR, vibrational, and electronic spectroscopies to be a Robin-Day class III system with an exceptionally large electronic coupling between the metal centers.

Strong light-matter coupling occurs when the rate of energy exchange between the electromagnetic mode and the molecular ensemble exceeds the competitive dissipation process. Coupled photon molecules with near-field light-matter interactions may produce new hybridized states when they reach the strong coupling region. Tunable Terahertz (THz) meta materials can be used to design sensors, optical modulators, etc.

The electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2) to methane (CH4) presents a promising solution for mitigating CO2 emissions while producing valuable chemical feedstocks. Although single-atom catalysts have shown potential in selectively converting CO2 to CH4, their limited active sites often hinder the realization of high current densities, posing a selectivity-activity dilemma. In this study, we developed a single-atom cobalt (Co) doped copper catalyst (Co1Cu) that achieved a CH4 Faradaic efficiency exceeding 60% with a partial current density of -482.

The fermentation process in alcoholic beverage production converts sugars into ethanol and CO, releasing significant amounts of greenhouse gases. Here, Cupriavidus necator DSM 545 was grown autotrophically using gas derived from alcoholic fermentation, using a fed-batch bottle system. Nutrient starvation was applied to induce intracellular accumulation of poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) (PHB), a bioplastic polymer, for bioconversion of CO-rich waste gas into PHB.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most commonly occurring brain disorder, characterized by the accumulation of amyloid-β (Aβ) and tau, subsequently leading to neurocognitive decline. 3-Amino-1-propanesulfonic acid (TPS) and its prodrug, currently under clinical trial III, serve as promising therapeutic agents targeting Aβ pathology by specifically preventing monomer-to-oligomer formation. Inspired by the potency of TPS prodrug, we hypothesized that conjugating TPS with human serum albumin (HSA) could enhance brain delivery and synergistically inhibit Aβ aggregation in mild to moderate AD.

Although creative ideas often emerge during distraction activities unrelated to the creative task, empirical research has yet to reveal the underlying neurocognitive mechanism. Using an incubation paradigm, we temporarily disengaged participants from the initial creative ideation task and required them to conduct two different distraction activities (moderately-demanding: 1-back working memory task, non-demanding: 0-back choice reaction time task), then returned them to the previous creative task. On the process of creative ideation, we calculated the representational dissimilarities between the two creative ideation phases before and after incubation period to estimate the neural representational change underlying successful incubation.
