Background: () is one of the most common pathogens of community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) in children. Although pneumonia (MPP) is considered a self-limiting disease, severe MPP (SMPP) occurs in some cases. This study aims to analyze clinical features of MPP and to explore predictive indicators in the early stage of infection.

Polo-like kinase 1 (PLK1), a key regulator of the G2/M phase in mitosis, is frequently overexpressed in numerous tumors. Although PLK1 inhibitors have emerged as promising therapeutic agents for cancer, their use has been linked to significant anemia in a subset of patients, yet the underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood. In this study, we utilized an human umbilical cord blood-derived CD34 cell-based erythroid differentiation system, alongside a murine model, to investigate the impact of PLK1 inhibitors on erythropoiesis.

While intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) is effective in reducing immunologic inflammation, 10-15% of patients do not respond to initial therapy, and some show resistance even after two consecutive treatments. Predicting which patients will not respond to these two IVIG treatments is crucial for guiding treatment strategies and improving outcomes.

Plasmodium malariae is the third most prevalent human malaria parasite species and contributes significantly to morbidity. Nevertheless, our comprehension of this parasite's biology remains limited, primarily due to its frequent co-infections with other species and the lack of a continuous in vitro culture system. To effectively combat and eliminate this overlooked parasite, it is imperative to acquire a better understanding of this species.
