The development of perinatology gives premature and other newborn infants at risk a better chance of survival. The transport of these infants from the delivery room to the neonatal intensive care centre is a complicated procedure and its inherent dangers for the newborn infant increase with distance. Success depends on special transport facilities and the mobile van equipment is described. The results of experience in the transport of 218 newborn infants at risk are discussed. The necessity of initial emergency preparative measures for the transportation of the ill infant is illustrated by 2 cases.

The presence of hypothermia among young infants in the emergency department may be a sign of serious or invasive bacterial infections, or invasive herpes simplex viral infection. However, hypothermia may also occur due to a variety of other infectious and noninfectious conditions or environmental exposure. In some settings, hypothermia may represent a protective, energy-conserving response to illness.

Background: Nigeria's reproductive, maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health indicators have remained unsatisfactory in the face of poor-quality healthcare services. Nigeria initiated the reproductive, maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent, elderly + nutrition (RMNCAEH+N) quality of care (QoC) agenda to address the challenge. The health management information system (HMIS) is integral to the agenda but there is sparse evidence on its performance so far.

Detecting low birth weight is crucial for early identification of at-risk pregnancies which are associated with significant neonatal and maternal morbidity and mortality risks. This study presents an efficient and interpretable framework for unsupervised detection of low, very low, and extreme birth weights. While traditional approaches to managing class imbalance require labeled data, our study explores the use of unsupervised learning to detect anomalies indicative of low birth weight scenarios.

Background: The increasing frequency and severity of extreme heat events due to climate change present unique risks to children and adolescents. There is a lack of evidence regarding how heat's impacts on pediatric patients vary spatially and how structural and sociodemographic factors drive this heterogeneity.

Objectives: We examined the association between extreme heat events and pediatric acute care utilization in California for 19 distinct health conditions.

Unlabelled: In very preterm-born infants, nutritional intake is important to reduce the risk of severe metabolic bone disease including the risk of a lower bone mineral density (BMD). The aim of this study was to evaluate bone mineral content (BMC) and BMD (measured as BMC per bone area (BA)) at six years of age in very preterm-born infants fed different diets post-discharge. Data on this topic so far is insufficient, and with this study we aim to supply more useful data.
