Progesterone (10 mg) administered intramuscularly induces a concurrent release of prolactin as well as gonadotropin in estrogen-primed women. The time course of pituitary release of all three of these hormones appears to include a latent phase of 4 hrs and is maintained for at least 5 hrs. It is considered that this effect of progesterone may be mediated through a reduction of hypothalamic dopamine.

Background: Although most pituitary tumors are benign, functioning pituitary tumors are dangerous as they produce and deteriorate the endocrine hormones. Prolactinomas are one of these tumors that arise from lactotroph cells of the anterior pituitary, and they're about 40% of all pituitary adenomas. They secrete high levels of prolactin, which are normally inhibited by dopamine.

Objective: Lower platelet monoamine oxidase (MAO) activity has consistently been associated with excessive risk-taking and general psychiatric vulnerability. How this peripheral measure can represent presumably centrally regulated complex behaviours is not clear but platelet MAO activity has been suggested to reflect the capacity of serotonin release in the brain. Secretion of prolactin is in part under serotonergic control and indicates serotonin release capacity.

The role of prolactin in sleep regulation has been the subject of extensive research over the past 50 years, resulting in the identification of multiple, disparate functions for the hormone. Prolactin demonstrated a characteristic circadian release pattern with elevation during dark and diminution during light. High prolactin levels were linked to non-rapid eye movement sleep and electroencephalogram delta activity in humans.

Background: Immunoglobulin A nephropathy (IgAN) and lupus nephritis (LN) are the most prevalent primary and secondary glomerular diseases, respectively, with several similarities in clinical presentations. Common pathogenic mechanisms in IgAN and LN have been well investigated by previous studies. However, the manifestation mechanism of these two independent diseases carrying distinct immunofluorescent pathological features is still unknown considering the similarities between them.

Prolactin (PRL) plays a key role in the growth and ovulation of animal follicles, but its impact on follicular recruitment in ewes remains uncertain. In this study, a total of sixteen healthy ewes (Hu sheep, aged 2-3 years, with continuous reproduction and housed separately), matched for parity and weight (52.98 ± 0.
