After a critical review of the literature and an enquiry based on 70 cases, the author confirms that osteogenic sarcomas and fibrosarcomas constitute the usual means of sarcomatous degeneration in bones affected by Paget's disease. Giant-cell tumours present a distinct group. The problems posed by the initial stages of the malignant transformation and the osteosarcomas with multiple centres are then discussed.

Article Synopsis
  • Sarcomatous serous effusions are rare and difficult to diagnose, especially cases involving dedifferentiated and pleomorphic liposarcomas that can mimic other tumors like carcinoma and mesothelioma.
  • A case study describes a 56-year-old man with a large pleural effusion, where cytological analysis revealed highly abnormal tumor cells mixed with macrophages and other components, complicating diagnosis.
  • Ultimately, a tissue biopsy confirmed the cytologic diagnosis of pleomorphic liposarcoma, highlighting the importance of detailed cytologic evaluation and the utility of cellblock techniques combined with immunocytochemical analysis.

Background: Targeted therapy combined with immunotherapy is the current first-line treatment for metastatic renal cell carcinoma (mRCC), but patients with tumor thrombus (TT) may suffer from lower limb edema or even sudden cardiac death, so the purpose of this study is to investigate the efficacy and safety of surgical treatment in patients with mRCC and TT and explore worse factors to affect the prognosis in this series of patients.

Patients And Methods: A total of 85 mRCC patients with TT who received cytoreductive nephrectomy and thrombectomy at our medical center from 2014 to 2023 are included. All patients received postoperative systemic therapy.
