[HL-A and Paget's disease].

Rev Rhum Mal Osteoartic

Published: November 1975

In a study on 43 patients suffering from Paget's disease the authors grouped them within the HL-A histo-compatibility system. Twenty-nine antigens in this system were investigated. Comparison with the distribution in the population of France did not show a significant difference. Nevertheless, there appeared to be a greater frequency of the HL-A 5 and perhaps of W 22 antigens in patients suffering from generalized Paget's disease.

Background: Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is a common peripheral nerve entrapment syndrome that can be treated in a variety of ways, including manual therapy, massage, and acupuncture.

Purpose: Traditional conservative treatment techniques have been widespread used for treatment of patients with mild-to-moderate carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS), such as manual therapy, massage, and acupuncture. However, there appears to be no consensus about the benefits of traditional conservative treatment techniques for patients with CTS.

Background: Musculoskeletal problems, or aromatase inhibitor-associated musculoskeletal syndrome, in the hands and wrists is a known side effect of aromatase inhibitor medication, often prescribed for 5years or more for breast cancer survivors. No studies were found on the effectiveness of hand therapy for breast cancer survivors experiencing aromatase inhibitor-associated musculoskeletal syndrome in the hands and wrists.

Purpose: The primary objective of this study is to determine the effectiveness of hand therapy on reducing hand and wrist pain, improving grip strength, improving upper extremity function, and improving health related quality of life in breast cancer survivors diagnosed with aromatase inhibitor-associated musculoskeletal syndrome in the hands and wrists.

Background: Restoration of hand function postextended radial forearm free flap (E-RFFF) is vital but challenging due to complex forearm anatomy and potential complications like reduced range of motion and sensory deficits. Traditional rehabilitation protocols often do not effectively address these issues.

Purpose: This study aims to explore the effectiveness of a hand therapy protocol that incorporates early active motion to enhance recovery outcomes after E-RFFF.

PHEMI-Phenylbutyrate in Patients With Lactic Acidosis: A Pilot, Single Arm, Phase I/II, Open-Label Trial.

Clin Ther

March 2025

Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Neurologico Carlo Besta, Medical Genetics and Neurogenetics Unit, Milan, Italy. Electronic address:

Purpose: The 6 months pilot, single arm, phase I/II, open-label clinical trial PHEMI investigated the safety and efficacy of daily administration of phenylbutyrate in reducing lactic acidosis by at least 20% in 3 children (ages 7-10 yrs) with pyruvate dehydrogenase deficiency and 6 adults with mitochondrial myopathy encephalopathy lactic acidosis and stroke-like episodes. As a side study, we investigated the response to phenylbutyrate treatment in skin fibroblasts and cybrids derived from PHEMI patients with the aim of unraveling a possible in vivo-in vitro correlation.

Methods: Safety was assessed through the collection of vital signs, clinical evaluations, blood samples, and reported adverse events.

Objective: Dental patient-reported outcomes (dPROs) are critical indicators of shared decision-making in oral healthcare. This study aimed to assess the frequency of use of dPROs and dPRO-related factors being used as predictors or predicted outcomes in clinical prediction models (CPMs) in oral health, and to identify variables associated with the use of dPROs and/or dPRO-related factors in CPMs.

Methods: A PubMed search was conducted on 17th May, 2024, to identify eligible studies.
