Introduction: Fish nucleated red blood cells (RBCs), also known as erythrocytes, play a crucial role in maintaining immune system balance by modulating protein expression in response to various stimuli, including viral attack. This study explores the intriguing behavior of rainbow trout RBCs when faced with the viral hemorrhagic septicemia virus (VHSV), focusing on the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress and the unfolded protein response (UPR).
Methods: Rainbow trout RBCs were Ficoll-purified and exposed to ultraviolet (UV)-inactivated VHSV or live VHSV at different multiplicities of infection (MOIs).

Cell biologists have long sought the ability to observe intracellular structures in living cells without labels. This study presents procedures to adjust a commercially available apodized phase-contrast (APC) microscopy system for better visualizing the dynamic behaviors of various subcellular organelles in living cells. By harnessing the versatility of this technique to capture sequential images, we could observe morphological changes in cellular geometry after virus infection in real time without probes or invasive staining.

Background: A major hurdle for the real time deployment of the AI models is ensuring trustworthiness of these models for the unseen population. More often than not, these complex models are black boxes in which promising results are generated. However, when scrutinized, these models begin to reveal implicit biases during the decision making, particularly for the minority subgroups.

Clinical pharmacist interventions have resulted in optimized diabetes control in complex patients; however, there are no studies examining the durability of achieved outcomes after patients discontinued being seen by the pharmacist. A pharmacist-led comprehensive medication management (CMM) Diabetes Intensive Medication Management (DIMM) “tune up” clinic provided the opportunity to evaluate long-term glycemic control outcomes following clinical discharge. This study used a retrospective cohort study design with a matched primary care provider (PCP) comparison group.

The tune up of fractional order (FO)-PID controllers is largely advocated in available literature which mostly requires evolutionary optimization techniques or solution of complex non-linear equations thereby leading to lack of practical solutions in terms of selecting the controller parameters. It may be quite feasible if one can consider PID control in the form of cascaded PI-PD control with which the task of attainment of the control objectives can be accomplished methodically. In extension to this, studies related to FO PI-PD controller are not too exhaustive.
