Opportunistic assessment of steatotic liver disease in lung cancer screening eligible individuals.

J Intern Med

January 2025

Artificial Intelligence in Medicine (AIM) Program, Mass General Brigham, Harvard Medical School, Harvard Institutes of Medicine (HIM), Boston, Massachusetts, USA.

Background: Steatotic liver disease (SLD) is a potentially reversible condition but often goes unnoticed with the risk for end-stage liver disease.

Purpose: To opportunistically estimate SLD on lung screening chest computed tomography (CT) and investigate its prognostic value in heavy smokers participating in the National Lung Screening Trial (NLST).

Material And Methods: We used a deep learning model to segment the liver on non-contrast-enhanced chest CT scans of 19,774 NLST participants (age 61.

Purpose: The depth within the body, small diameter, long length, and varying tissue surrounding the spinal cord impose specific considerations when designing radiofrequency coils. The optimal coil configuration for 7 T cervical spinal cord MRI is unknown and, currently, there are very few coil options. The purpose of this work was (1) to establish a quality control protocol for evaluating 7 T cervical spinal cord coils and (2) to use that protocol to evaluate the performance of 4 different coil designs.

Coming home: how visually navigating ants (Myrmecia spp.) pinpoint their nest.

J Exp Biol

January 2025

Research School of Biology, The Australian National University, 46 Sullivans Creek Road, Canberra ACT2601, Australia.

Visually navigating Myrmecia foragers approach their nest from distances up to 25 m along well-directed paths, even from locations they have never been before ( Narendra et al., 2013). However, close to the nest, they often spend some time pinpointing the nest entrance, sometimes missing it by centimetres.

[A comparative study on the diagnostic value of F-PSMA PET/CT PRIMARY score and PSMA expression score for clinically significant prostate cancer].

Zhonghua Yi Xue Za Zhi

January 2025

Department of Urology, Beijing Hospital, National Center of Gerontology, Institute of Geriatric Medicine, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Beijing100730, China.

To compare the diagnostic value of fluorine 18-labelled prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) PET/CT PRIMARY score and PSMA expression score for clinically significant prostate cancer (csPCa). The data of 70 patients with prostate cancer who underwent radical prostatectomy at Beijing Hospital from February 1, 2019 to February 29, 2024 were retrospectively analyzed. All patients underwent whole body F-PSMA PET/CT examination before surgery and pathological large sections of prostate specimens were made after surgery.

January 2025

Department of Prosthodontics, Shanghai Ninth People's Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine; Shanghai, 200011, China; College of Stomatology, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, National Center for Stomatology, National Clinical Research Center for Oral Diseases, Shanghai Key Laboratory of Stomatology, Shanghai Research Institute of Stomatology, Shanghai, 200011, China; Department of Stomatology, Fengcheng Hospital of Fengxian District, Shanghai, 201418, China. Electronic address:

Objectives: To compare the adaptation of maxillary removable partial denture (RPD) frameworks fabricated through direct digital workflows with that of traditional cast frameworks and indirect digital frameworks.

Methods: The workflow for fabricating the digital cobalt-chromium framework encompassed intraoral scanning (IOS) using Trios 3, computer-aided survey and design, and subsequently either the lost-wax technique from a printed resin framework pattern (Framework B) or direct selective laser melting (SLM) (Framework C). The traditional cast framework (Framework A) was selected as a control.
