Background And Objectives: Cold-stored whole blood (CS-WB) in paediatric cardiac surgery is making a resurgence, given its identified benefits compared to conventional blood component therapy (CT).
Study Design And Methods: A single-centre retrospective study was conducted from January 2018 to October 2018 by including children <18 years of age undergoing cardiac surgery requiring cardiopulmonary bypass. ABO-compatible CS-WB from non-directed random donors was leukoreduced with platelet-sparing filters and compared with CT.

Introduction: Nitric and hydrofluoric acids are commonly used in the commercial cleaning industry. We are unaware of reports of nitric acid inhalation forming methaemoglobin. Additionally, methaemoglobinaemia and treatment with methylthioninium chloride (methylene blue) may precipitate clinical uncertainty due to similar wavelengths of absorbance in pulse oximetry.

Objective: We aimed to explore the feasibility of an inverted-T upper hemisternotomy approach for pulmonary endarterectomy (PEA) and report the results after 17 cases.
Methods: PEA was conducted through a 7-cm skin incision using an inverted-T upper hemisternotomy across the third intercostal spaces. Cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) was established through central arterial and percutaneous femoral dual-staged venous cannulation.
