The aims of the study are to analyze the influence of pain and no pain expectations on the physiological (electromyography (EMG) and pupillometry) and cognitive (Numerical Rating Scale (NRS)) response to pain. Pain expectation and no pain expectation situations were induced by employing instructional videos. The induction of pain was performed by palpating the masseter with an algometer in a sample of 2 groups: 30 healthy participants (control group) and 30 patients (Temporomandibular disorders (TMD) group) with chronic myofascial pain with referral in the masseter muscle (Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Dissorders (DC/TMD)).

Introduction: The onset of symptoms in Rapid-onset dystonia-parkinsonism (RDP) is typically over days to weeks and is often triggered by stressors like fever or childbirth. Limited information is available on how the motor and nonmotor symptoms evolve over the course of the disease. Our longitudinal study analyzed data from a cohort of RDP patients, documenting their symptoms across multiple visits.

The clinical evolution and management of a 22-yr-old male envenomed by a captive female inland taipan, Oxyuranus microlepidotus (McCoy, 1879), Elapidae, at a public educational reptile exhibit (Florida, USA) is reported. The patient was bitten (quick 'bite and release') in the right hand between digits #3 and 4 while performing captive maintenance. The victim did not attempt any first aid, but urgently presented to the local hospital within 25 mins post-bite.
