The PainSMART-strategy has been developed aiming to reduce divergences between patients and healthcare practitioners in their understanding of MSKP by providing a shared basis for communication and to facilitate patients' self-management of MSKP. The objective of the PainSMART-project is to evaluate the effects of the PainSMART-strategy as an adjunct to usual physiotherapy management compared to usual physiotherapy management alone.

Background: For people receiving haemodialysis, a balance has to be struck between removing sufficient but not too much fluid during a treatment session and maintaining any remaining kidney function they might have. In the BISTRO trial, this study sought to establish if getting the balance right might be improved by the additional use of bioimpedance, a device that measures body fluid composition to help decide how much fluid to remove during dialysis. Designing and executing this trial, which incorporated complex and repeated trial procedures that would be dependent on participant engagement, presented challenges that demanded effective public and patient involvement.

Recognizing their potential, especially in cases where conventional healthcare cannot address the multifaceted impact of conditions such as in Parkinson's disease (PD), our study advocates for an integrative approach in medical practice and neuroscience. We recommend incorporating learning environments from the design phase through long-term care.

Although islet transplantation is effective in reducing severe hypoglycemia events and controlling blood glucose in patients with type 1 diabetes, maintaining islet graft function long-term is a significant challenge. Islets from multiple donors are often needed to achieve insulin independence, and even then, islet function can decline over time when metabolic demand exceeds islet mass/insulin secretory capacity. We previously developed a method that calculated the islet graft function index (GFI) and a patient's predicted insulin requirement (PIR) using mathematical nonlinear regression.
