Pulse detection algorithms and spectral analysis are the two most common methods for analysing pulsatile hormone data. We compared a popular high quality pulse detection algorithm (CLUSTER) to spectral analysis on a data set comparing luteinizing hormone data in depressed and control women. For these data, periodogram analysis methods, in particular Fisher's periodicity test, were superior in distinguishing the groups. Extending the pulse detection method to include measures of intra-individual variability improved its discriminatory performance. The two methods complement each other.

A convenient method is proposed using a heat-treatable volatile template to prepare hierarchical porous biochar (HPB). Litsea cubeba leaves and ZIF-8 served as carbon source and volatile hard template, respectively. The good compatibility between ZIF-8 and biomass facilitated their uniform dispersion, and the thermal decomposition of ZIF-8 created abundant pores in the HPB.

Surgeon fatigue significantly affects cognitive and motor functions, increasing the risk of errors and adverse patient outcomes. Traditional fatigue management methods, such as structured breaks and duty-hour limits, are insufficient for real-time fatigue detection in high-stakes surgeries. With advancements in artificial intelligence (AI), there is growing potential for AI-driven technologies to address this issue through continuous monitoring and adaptive interventions.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the occurrence of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) at the University Hospital Olomouc (UHO) over a 10-year period (2013-2022).
Material And Methods: Data was obtained from the ENVIS LIMS laboratory information system (DS Soft, Czech Republic, Olomouc) of the Department of Microbiology, UHO, for the period 1/1/2013-31/12/2022. Standard microbiological procedures using the MALDI-TOF MS system (Biotyper Microflex, Bruker Daltonics) were applied for the identification.

Background: Obesity and metabolic syndrome (MS) accelerate arterial stiffening, increasing cardiovascular (CV) risk after transplant. BMI is limited by inability to differentiate muscle, fat mass, and fat distribution patterns. The aim of this study was to identify the best anthropometric measure to detect arterial stiffness as assessed by pulse wave velocity (PWV) in a racially diverse pediatric transplant population.

To enhance the application performance of graphdiyne (GDY) in electrochemical sensing, carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were grown in situ to construct three-dimensional nanoarchitectures of GDY-CNTs composites. GDY-CNTs showed superior electrochemical properties and detection response to MP when compared with GDY, as the in situ growth of CNTs significantly increased the electrode surface area and enhanced the electron transfer process. GDY-CNTs were successfully used to construct electrochemical sensors for methyl parathion (MP).
