Background: Middle meningeal artery embolization (MMAE) is emerging as a promising adjunctive treatment in patients with chronic subdural hematomas (cSDH). This study presents real world multicenter data comparing outcomes in cSDH patients undergoing surgical treatment alone or combined with MMAE.
Methods: This multi-institutional, multinational, retrospective, propensity-matched study utilized the TriNetX platform to compare outcomes in patients undergoing surgical evacuation and MMAE versus surgery alone for cSDH.

Definitive chemoradiotherapy (dCRT) is the standard treatment for unresectable (T4) esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC), but the prognosis is poor. Borderline resectable (T3br) ESCC has been discussed, but its clinical features and appropriate treatment are unclear. The effects of docetaxel plus cisplatin and 5-fluorouracil (DCF) therapy and subsequent surgery for potentially unresectable ESCC remain controversial.

Purpose: This study evaluated the efficacy of adding budesonide to nebulized lidocaine in patients undergoing flexible bronchoscopy (FB) under topical anaesthesia.
Study Design: Patients aged ≥18 years, scheduled for FB under topical anaesthesia were randomized into two groups: the combination group received a pre-treatment of 2 ml 1 mg budesonide with 5 ml 2% lidocaine, whilst the lidocaine group received 5 ml 2% lidocaine with 2 ml saline solution, both administered via nebulization. Blood pressure (BP), heart rate, and percutaneous oxygen saturation were recorded before, during, and 10 min after FB.

Introduction: Tranexamic acid (TXA) is an antifibrinolytic drug commonly used in total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Intravenous (IV) and topical TXA therapy have been extensively studied and shown to reduce blood loss, length of hospital stay, and blood transfusion rates following TKA. Despite the extensive literature regarding IV and topical TXA in orthopedics, there is a current dearth of studies analyzing oral usage.

Background: We performed a retrospective comparative study to clarify the optimal gallbladder drainage method prior to elective cholecystectomy.
Methods: We collected data from the Diagnosis Procedure Combination database about cholecystitis patients who underwent gallbladder drainage prior to cholecystectomy in a subsequent hospitalization between April 2014 and March 2020. We divided the study population into two groups: an endoscopic gallbladder stenting (EGBS) group and a percutaneous transhepatic gallbladder drainage (PTGBD) group.
