Solar water disinfection facilitated by photocatalyst has been considered a viable point-of-use (POU) method for mitigating antibiotic resistance contaminations at the household or community levels. Here, density functional theory calculations are used to guide the fabrication of a carrier confinement domains (CCD)-decorated graphitic carbon nitride (CN) photocatalyst. The CCD integration effectively disrupts the electron distribution symmetry of CN, amplifies its local electron density, and facilitates the formation of a long-range ordered structure, thereby enhancing charge separation efficiency.

Hexagonal manganites, as a functional ferroelectric (FE) material, receive considerable attention due to their improper ferroelectricity and topological vortex structures. This family exhibits three low-symmetry states accompanied by distinct vortex domain structures. In addition to the FE6and anti-FE (AFE)-31 states accompanied by dual six-fold vortex structures, there is another FE31 state accompanied by a twelve-fold vortex structure.

This study aims to investigate the impact of kappa-carrageenan on dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs) behavior in terms of biocompatibility and odontogenic differentiation potential when it is utilized as a component for the production of 3D sponge-like scaffolds. For this purpose, we prepared three types of scaffolds by freeze-drying (i) kappa-carrageenan/chitosan/gelatin enriched with KCl (KCG-KCl) as a physical crosslinker for the sulfate groups of kappa-carrageenan, (ii) kappa-carrageenan/chitosan/gelatin (KCG) and (iii) chitosan/gelatin (CG) scaffolds as a control. The mechanical analysis illustrated a significantly higher elastic modulus of the cell-laden scaffolds compared to the cell-free ones after 14 and 28 days with values ranging from 25 to 40 kPa, showing an increase of 27-36%, with the KCG-KCl scaffolds indicating the highest and CG the lowest values.

The oxidation of unsaturated fatty acids and the adverse transformation of pigments from meat and spices are the primary causes of chemical degradation in processed meat products. Thymol is found in a variety of plant extracts that have been proven to effectively inhibit or slow down oxidative processes. The objective of our study was to determine whether thymol treatment of the surface of sliced paprika salami could be applied to inhibit lipid oxidation and color change during refrigerated storage.
