The development of long-wavelength near-infrared II (NIR-II, 900-1700 nm) dyes is highly desirable but challenging. To achieve both red-shifted absorption/emission and superior imaging capabilities, a donor-acceptor-donor (D-A-D) xanthene core was strategically modified by extending π-conjugated double bonds and enhancing electron-donating properties. Two dyes named and were synthesized and exhibited notably red-shifted absorption/emission peaks at 942/1250 and 1098/1450 nm, respectively.

Nontraditional luminogens (NTLs) without large π-conjugated aromatic structures have attracted a great deal of attention in recent years. Developing NTLs with red-shifted and enhanced emissions remains a great challenge. In this work, we developed a NTL composed of three components, i.

Engineered immune cell therapy has proven to be a transformative cancer treatment despite the challenges of its prohibitive costs and manufacturing complexity. In this study, we propose a concise "lipid droplet fusion" strategy for engineering macrophages. Because of the integration of hydrophobic alkyl chains and π-conjugated structures, the mildly synthesized sp2C-conjugated covalent organic framework (COF) UM-101 induced lipid droplet fusion and metabolic reprogramming of macrophages, thus promoting their antitumor classical activation.

Controllable Self-Assembly Morphologies of PPV-Based Block Copolymers.

January 2025

Southern University of Science and Technology, Chemistry, 1088 Xueyuan Blvd., Xili, Nanshan District, 518055, Shenzhen, CHINA.

Poly(p-phenylenevinylene) (PPV) is a classic semiconducting π-conjugated polymers with outstanding optical and electronic properties, which shows important applications in the fields of optoelectronic, such as organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), organic solar cells (OSCs), and organic field-effect transistors (OFETs). In the working process of the device, the microstate of PPV decides its property. Therefore, it is significant to achieve ordered morphologies based on PPV at micro scale.

Plasmon Dynamics in Nanoclusters: Dephasing Revealed by Excited States Evaluation.

Department of Chemistry, Brandeis University, 415 South Street, Waltham, Massachusetts 02453, United States.

The photocatalytic efficiency of materials such as graphene and noble metal nanoclusters depends on their plasmon lifetimes. Plasmon dephasing and decay in these materials is thought to occur on ultrafast time scales, ranging from a few femtoseconds to hundreds of femtoseconds and longer. Here we focus on understanding the dephasing and decay pathways of excited states in small lithium and silver clusters and in plasmonic states of the π-conjugated molecule anthracene, providing insights that are crucial for interpreting optical properties and photophysics.
