The authors review incisions for exposure of the lunate bone and describe them in detail. They study the advantages and disadvantages of each approach, then consider their indications in peri-lunar luxation, scapholunar luxation and Kienboeck's disease. They emphasize the interest of the palmar routes in all cases, except for scapho-lunar luxation.

Approach to frontal sinus via five frontal sinus drainage pathways.

Eur Arch Otorhinolaryngol

January 2025

Department of Otorhinolaryngology, The University of Tokyo, Tokyo, Japan.

Purpose: This study aimed to validate a method for successful frontal sinus surgery. The method classifies the frontal sinus drainage pathway (FSDP) into five categories based on three bony walls of the anterior ethmoid sinus, including the uncinate process (UP), accessory uncinate process (UPa), and basal lamella of the ethmoid bulla (BLEB), which was tested in actual surgical procedures.

Methods: This study analyzed 53 sides of 48 patients who underwent frontal sinus surgery between October 2022 and March 2023.

Background: Postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) after herpes zoster is a debilitating complication that severely affects the quality of life of patients. Neuromodulation such as spinal cord stimulation (SCS) and trigeminal semilunar ganglion stimulation (TSGS) have become effective methods for treating postherpetic neuralgia.

Methods: A retrospective analysis of clinical data from 30 patients with postherpetic neuralgia who underwent SCS or TSGS treatment from January 2022 to January 2024.

The wingspan suspension approach: A modified semilunar technique for multiple areas of recession.

Clin Adv Periodontics

June 2024

Department of Periodontics, School of Dental Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA.

Background: Gingival recession can be considered an undesirable condition that results in the exposure of the root surface. There are many techniques that can be employed to address gingival recession; however, they frequently involve a second surgical site. Other approaches have been introduced in the past to address this concern, and this case study discusses the use of a modified technique to achieve root coverage.

Introduction: Trigeminal herpes zoster, which comprises 10% to 20% of cases of herpes zoster, often leads to severe pain in the ophthalmic branches. Current treatments, including drug therapy and minimally invasive interventions, have limitations; accordingly, there is a need to explore alternative approaches. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of computerized tomography (CT)-guided pulsed radiofrequency of the sphenopalatine ganglion in patients with intractable trigeminal herpetic pain.
