We study the interplay between entropy and topological constraints for a polymer chain in which sliding rings (slip links) enforce pair contacts between monomers. These slip links divide a closed ring polymer into a number of subloops which can exchange length among each other. In the ideal chain limit, we find the joint probability density function for the sizes of segments within such a slip-linked polymer chain (paraknot). A particular segment is tight (small in size) or loose (of the order of the overall size of the paraknot) depending on both the number of slip links it incorporates and its competition with other segments. When self-avoiding interactions are included, scaling arguments can be used to predict the statistics of segment sizes for certain paraknot configurations.

Accurate models for predicting drop dynamics, such as maximum drop departure sizes, are crucial for estimating heat transfer rates during condensation on superhydrophobic (SH) surfaces. Previous studies have focused on examining the heat transfer rates for SH surfaces under the influence of gravity or vapor flowing over the surface. This study investigates the impact of surface solid fraction and texture scale on drop mobility in a condensing environment with a humid air flow.

Objective: To explore the correlation between vitamin D levels, related endocrine/metabolic factors, and the risk of slipped capital femoral epiphysis (SCFE) in children and adolescents, and to assess whether vitamin D levels are associated with SCFE severity.

Methods: A retrospective case-control study was conducted from March 2014 to October 2023 in Shengjing hospital. Patients diagnosed with SCFE were categorized as the SCFE group.

Unconventional twinning assisted by pyramidal II stacking faults.

Mater Res Lett

Twinning significantly affects the deformation behavior of hexagonal close-packed Mg, so a thorough understanding of twin nucleation and growth mechanisms is required for enhancing the properties of Mg-based materials. The commonly observed tension twins have been traditionally linked to 〈c + a〉 dislocation dissociation, which results in zonal dislocations with large Burgers vectors several times that of a single twinning dislocation and some residual dislocations. Contrarily, our molecular dynamics simulations reveal twin nucleation from pyramidal II stacking faults through atomic shuffling without shear displacements.

- The main goal of this article is to outline the key elements of activation energy that govern the slip flow of Carreau fluid over a non-linear stretched surface with heat transfer. By using the Arrhenius relation, activation energy aspects are included. Brownian diffusion and thermophoretic effects are shown through the study of nanoparticle dispersion using the Buongiorno model.

Exemplifying interspecies variation of liposome fate by the effects of anti-PEG antibodies.

The different fate of liposomes among species has been discovered and mentioned in many studies, but the underlying mechanisms have not been explored. In the present work, we concentrated on the fate of PEGylated liposomes (sLip) in three commonly used species (mice, rats, and dogs). It was exhibited that the accelerated blood clearance (ABC) phenomenon and hypersensitivity in large animals (beagle dogs) were much more significant than that in rodents.
