Investigators have developed methods to estimate the number of healthy days or symptom-free days in randomized trials or population-based settings. Such measures can be used in cost-effectiveness studies or disease management surveillance. This paper suggests that the concept can be extended to measure intraocular pressure (IOP)-controlled days in glaucoma by combining data from randomized trials on IOP control (ie, whether a target IOP or percent reduction in IOP was achieved) with data from pharmacy database studies on drug persistency. Patients with lower rates of persistency would be expected to experience fewer IOP-controlled days as they switch therapies or discontinue topical therapy altogether. Evaluating IOP-controlled days according to patients' topical glaucoma therapies could improve population-based disease management compared with the use of simpler measures that consider IOP measurements at a single point in time.

Goals: To assess the efficacy and safety of preservative-free timolol 0.1% gel in patients with primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) and ocular hypertension (OHT).
Methods: In this multicenter, open-label, non-controlled clinical trial in Algeria, treatment-naïve patients with intraocular pressure (IOP)>20mmHg and<31mmHg (treatment-naïve patients, group 1) and patients with IOP controlled by current ocular monotherapy but presenting with local intolerance in at least one eye (intolerant patients; group 2) were eligible.

Ocular decompression retinopathy (ODR) is a rare complication of sudden lowering of intraocular pressure (IOP) in glaucoma and ocular hypertension. An 80-year-male, a known case of chronic open-angle glaucoma for 13 years, had his IOP controlled by multiple topical antiglaucoma medications. Purpose: To observe the differences of damage patterns of retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) between acute and chronic intraocular pressure (IOP) elevation in primary angle closure glaucoma (PACG) using optical coherence tomography (OCT).
Methods: Twenty four patients (48 eyes) with unilateral acute PACG (APACG) attack in the 6 months after remission and 36 patients (64 eyes) with chronic PACG (CPACG) were included in this prospective study. For all cases, IOP has been controlled less than 21 mm Hg after treatment.

Background: The aim of this study was to assess changes in metalloproteinases (MMP-2) and tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases (TIMP-2) following selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT) in patients with pseudoexfoliative glaucoma (PEXG).
Methods: We enrolled 15 patients with PEXG and cataracts (PEXG-C group) and good intraocular pressure (IOP) controlled with beta-blockers and dorzolamide eye drops who were treated by cataract phacoemulsification and 15 patients with pseudoexfoliative glaucoma (PEXG-SLT group). The PEXG-SLT patients underwent a trabeculectomy for uncontrolled IOP in the eye that showed increased IOP despite the maximum drug treatment with beta-blockers and dorzolamide eye drops and after ineffective selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT).
