Endovenous surgery in the treatment of varicose veins generally consists of laser or radiofrequency ablation (RFA) as endovenous thermal ablation (ETA) with a phlebectomy or foam sclerotherapy of tributary varicose veins to improve symptomatic or cosmetic problems. Nevertheless, the efficacy of their concomitant treatments is still controversial for a decade. In the guidelines of the Japanese Society of Phlebology, concomitant phlebectomy of tributary varicose veins with ETA is described that it is not recommended officially.

Background: To effectively advance person-centered care (PCC) practice, it is important to equip healthcare providers with person-centered values and beliefs while simultaneously transforming their work environment to align with PCC. Thus, instruments to measure caring practice status in nursing competency for psychiatric-specific behavioral limitations, ethico-moral behavior, technology use, and PCC need to be developed.

Objective: This study developed the Technological Competency as Caring in Psychiatric Nursing Instrument (TCCNPNI) to measure practice status and test its content and construct validity.

Introduction: A recent scoping review identified histological chorioamnionitis (HCA), small for gestational age (SGA), and bubbly/cystic appearance on chest X-ray (bubbly/cystic CXR) as risk factors for severe bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD). To further validate these results, a large-scale database was analyzed.

Methods: This retrospective multicenter cohort study included infants born at <28 weeks' gestational age between 2003 and 2016.

Research Center for Swine Diseases, College of Veterinary Medicine, Sichuan Agricultural University, Chengdu, China.

Background: The Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV), a mosquito-borne flavivirus, is known for its capacity to cause severe neurological disease in Asia. Neurotropic flaviviruses within the Japanese encephalitis (JE) serogroup possess the distinctive feature of expressing a unique nonstructural protein, NS1'. The NS1' protein consists of the full NS1 protein with an additional 52 amino acid extension at the C-terminus and has been demonstrated to exhibit virulence in mammalian hosts upon infection.

Background/objectives: Facial bone density, including the jawbone, declines earlier than that of the lumbar spine and calcaneus. Calcium maltobionate is reported to mitigate bone resorption and maintain bone density of the lumbar spine in post-menopausal women, but its effects on facial bone density remain understudied. Therefore, this study compared variations in facial bone mineral density with variations in calcaneal bone mineral density and bone resorption markers among healthy women, examining differences between pre- and post-menopause and the effects of continuous calcium maltobionate intake.
