Objective: To summarize the function of fibula in stability of ankle joints.

Methods: Recent original articles were extensively reviewed, which were related to the physiological function and biomechanical properties of fibula, the influence of fibular fracture on stability of ankle joints and mechanism of osteoarthritis of ankle joints.

Results: The fibula had the function of weight-bearing; and it was generally agreed that discontinued fibula could lead to intra-articular disorder of ankle joint in children; but there were various viewpoints regarding the influence of fibular fracture on the ankle joint in adults.

Conclusion: Fibula may play an important role in stability of ankle joint.

Introduction: The anterior talofibular ligament (ATFL) is the most vulnerable ligament in ankle sprains. Most patients recover after this injury with conservative treatment, while 20%-40% progress to chronic ankle instability that requires surgical stabilization. Conventional MRI does not provide a comprehensive image of the ATFL.

Objectives: The plantar fascia stretching intervention can correct balance ability and induces a change spatiotemporal parameter doing gait ability. Our objective is to compare the effects of a 4-week program of plantar fascia stretching with those of calf stretching exercise on ankle dorsiflexion passive range of motion (DF-PROM), open and closed eyes static balance ability, gait parameters, and foot and ankle disability index in chronic post-stroke condition.

Methods: Participants were randomized to either the plantar fascia stretching ( = 10) or calf stretching ( = 10) group.

Background: The traditional classification for lateral malleolus fracture has its limitations. In this study, we introduced a three-dimensional (3D) fracture mapping technique using computed tomography (CT) data to assess fracture line distributions and their impact on patient outcomes, offering a refined classification approach.

Methods: Retrospectively, we analysed 97 patients who underwent lateral malleolus fracture surgeries (2014-2019), using CT Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine data to create 3D models and fracture maps.

Background Long-term follow-up data are difficult to collect, especially in uncommon foot injuries. Therefore, it is rare to find publications that include patient-reported outcomes. Therefore, a case series and systematic review are provided to evaluate mid- and long-term outcomes.
