The heteropolyanions of W, Mo, and V, which have found numerous applications, are formed simply by acidification of solutions of their oxoanions. Under similar conditions, these oxoanion precursors are not available for Nb, and Nb-oxo chemistry is dominated by formation of the Lindquist ion [Nb6O19]8- only. However, heteropolyniobate formation is favored in hydrothermal reactions of aqueous, alkaline precursor mixtures. Here we give two examples of heteropolyniobates formed by this general reaction type: K12[Ti2O2][SiNb12O40].16H2O [1], which contains chains of silicododecaniobate Keggin ions, and Na14[H2Si4Nb16O56].45.5H2O [2], a new heteropolyanion structure type.

DNA holds immense potential as an emerging data storage medium. However, the recovery of information in DNA storage systems faces challenges posed by various errors, including IDS errors, strand breaks, and rearrangements, inevitably introduced during synthesis, amplification, sequencing, and storage processes. Sequence reconstruction, crucial for decoding, involves inferring the DNA reference from a cluster of erroneous copies.

Palladium catalysts form a cornerstone of modern chemistry with upmost scientific and industrial impact. Bulk palladium metal itself is chemically inert, and a sequence of chemical transformations has to be utilized to convert the metal into Pd pre-catalyst covered by ligands. However, the "cocktail" of catalysis concept discovered recently has shown that Pd systems can efficiently operate in catalysis without the necessity of a complicated and expensive pre-installed ligand environment.

Background: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is one of the most common disabling central nervous system diseases affecting young adults. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is an essential tool for diagnosing and following up multiple sclerosis. Over the years, many MRI techniques have been developed to improve the sensitivity of MS disease detection.

Complexins are a family of small presynaptic proteins that regulate neurotransmitter release at nerve terminals and are highly conserved in evolution. While direct interactions with SNARE proteins are critical for all complexin functions, binding of their disordered C-terminal domains (CTD) to membranes, especially to synaptic vesicle membranes, is essential for the ability of complexin to inhibit vesicle release. Furthermore, while some complexin CTDs possess an endogenous affinity for membranes, other complexin isoforms are subject to lipidation at their C-termini, which is presumed to confer additional membrane binding.

Thiazolo[5,4-d]thiazole-2,5-dicarboxylic acid (HThz), a thiazolothiazole (TTz) derivative with carboxylic acid groups, was synthesized as a ligand for the creation of five MOFs, each associated with distinct metal ions including Ag, Mn, Co, Zn, and Cu. The cathodic electrochemiluminescence (ECL) of HThz and the resulting MOFs was investigated. HThz was found to generate ECL signals, but this process was heavily reliant on potassium persulfate (KSO) as a co-reactant.
