Purpose: To determine whether the quality of semen has changed over time in men screened for semen donation.
Methods: All 448 men volunteering for semen donation between 1983 and 2001 at a donor insemination clinic in Sydney, Australia, were included in this longitudinal single centre observational analysis of semen parameters. There was no selection for fertility or marital status but all volunteers had to be aged between 18 and 40 years.
Results: There was no change in the total sperm count during the study period (r = 0.065, P = 0.17) using a linear regression model. The ejaculate volume did not change (r = 0.002, P = 0.97), while an increase in sperm motility was seen (Spearman R = 0.194, P < 0.001).
Conclusion: The semen quality of volunteers for sperm donation presenting to our donor insemination clinic in Sydney between 1983 and 2001 has not declined.

Fruit waste is one of the main components of municipal waste. To study its potential and characteristics in anaerobic digestion, this study took fruit waste and its waste liquid as raw materials, investigate the influence of thermal pretreatment on the anaerobic digestion characteristics under 35 ± 17 °C. The anaerobic digestion materials were fruit waste liquid (group A1), fruit waste liquid after thermal pretreatment (group A2), fruit slurry (group A3), and the material of A2 and A3 mixed with municipal sludge (groups A4 and A5) has also been involved.

From 1954 to 1983, a vermiculite processing facility operated near the Honolulu airport and processed raw material from the Libby, Montana mine, which is now well known for the high asbestos content of its clay deposits. The factory was closed in 1983 due to health hazard concerns, and remediation was performed in 2001 as part of the Libby mine superfund project. However, because of close proximity of the closed-down facility to residential areas of metropolitan Honolulu, some concerns remain regarding the possible environmental persistence of the harmful contaminant.

Background: Post-kala-azar dermal leishmaniasis (PKDL) is a dermatosis which can occur after successful treatment of visceral leishmaniasis (VL) and is a public health problem in VL endemic areas. We conducted a systematic scoping review to assess the characteristics of published PKDL clinical studies, understand the scope of research and explore the feasibility and value of developing a PKDL individual patient data (IPD) platform.
Methods: A systematic review of published literature was conducted to identify PKDL clinical studies by searching the following databases: PubMed, Scopus, Ovid Embase, Web of Science Core Collection, WHO Global Index Medicus, PASCAL, Clinicaltrials.
