2-[2-Methyl-5-nitro-4-(phenylsulfonylmethyl)imidazol-1-yl]ethanol and 2-methyl-5-nitro-4-phenylsulfonylmethyl-1,3-thiazole.

Acta Crystallogr C

Laboratoire de Chimie Organique, UMR CNRS 6517, Faculté de Pharmacie de Marseille, 27 Bd Jean Moulin, 13385 Marseille Cedex 5, France.

Published: August 2002

The title compounds, C(13)H(15)N(3)O(5)S and C(11)H(10)N(2)O(4)S(2), respectively, both contain a phenylsulfonyl group connected, through a methylene bridge, to either a substituted nitroimidazole or nitro-1,3-thiazole ring. In the imidazole-containing molecule, the nitro and sulfonyl groups are trans relative to the sulfonyl-methyl bond, while in the thiazole-containing molecule, these substituents are cis. The stabilizing interactions within the crystals are also different between the two compounds.

Tea, one of the most popular beverages worldwide, generates a substantial amount of spent leaves, often directly discarded although they may still contain valuable compounds. This study aims to optimize the extraction of polyphenols from spent black tea (SBT) and spent green tea (SGT) leaves while also exploring their antioxidant and antibacterial properties. Response surface methodology was utilized to determine the optimal experimental conditions for extracting polyphenols from SBT and SGT.

Species of genus are known to be rich sources of bioactive compounds. However, there is a lack of studies comparing extraction methods for these bioactive components. This study aimed to compare the total phenolic contents, total antioxidant capacity, tyrosinase inhibitory effect, sargahydroquinoic acid (SHQA) and sargachromenol (SCM), two algal meroterpenoids, of extracts acquired by different extraction methods.

Objective: Marginal adaptation of the provisional restoration often requires relining from relining materials. This study determined the effects of surface treatments on the shear bond strength (SBS) between 3D-printed provisional and bis-acryl relining materials.

Materials And Methods: The 3D-printed provisional specimens (9 × 9 × 2 mm) were prepared using methacrylate-based material.

Glue and Ethanol Mixture for Aneurysm Endovascular Treatment: Animal Lab Study, Imaging, and Histopathological Findings.

J Clin Med

November 2024

"Dipartimento delle Tecnologie Avanzate Diagnostico-Terapeutiche e dei Servizi Sanitari"-UOC Neuroradiologia, Azienda Ospedaliera di Rilievo Nazionale "Antonio Cardarelli", 80131 Napoli, Italy.

This study aims to investigate the degree of penetration, permanence of occlusion, and vascular changes induced by a newly modified mixture of n-butyl cyanoacrylate (Glubran 2), ethanol, and Lipidol (GEL) in the endovascular treatment of experimental aneurysms induced in swine. Bilateral pouch aneurysms were created in the wall of the internal carotid artery in eighteen pigs. The sixteen aneurysms were treated with a new mixture of GEL with different component proportions.

Article Synopsis
  • The study explores the protective effects of sulfated polysaccharides from Enteromorpha intestinalis (EIP) on liver damage in zebrafish subjected to ethanol exposure, simulating alcohol-related liver disease (ALD).
  • Zebrafish were tested in three groups: control, ethanol-exposed, and ethanol-exposed with EIP supplementation, over a 30-day period, measuring various oxidative stress and liver health indicators.
  • Results indicated that EIP supplementation significantly reduced liver damage by lowering oxidative stress and iron accumulation, improving antioxidant activity, and altering gene expressions related to ferroptosis, suggesting potential for future treatments for ALD.
