We report the case of a 22-month-old immunocompetent male child with fibrosing mediastinitis secondary to zygomycosis, an unusual presentation of a rare fungal infection. This patient was successfully treated with amphotericin B and itraconazole for 20 weeks. Stenting of the superior vena cava was helpful in relieving the patient's superior vena cava syndrome.

Diagnostic Efficacy of Ventilation-Perfusion Single Photo Emission Computed Tomography/Computed Tomography for Pulmonary Hypertension due to Fibrinous Mediastinitis.

Acad Radiol

December 2024

Department of Nuclear Medicine, Shanghai Pulmonary Hospital, School of Medicine, Tongji University, Shanghai, China (F.X.Z., Y.C.C.). Electronic address:

Rationale And Objectives: Comprehensive data on the use of ventilation-perfusion single-photo emission computed tomography/computed tomography (V/Q SPECT/CT), an established diagnostic tool for chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension, in identifying pulmonary hypertension secondary to fibrinous mediastinitis (PH-FM) is scarce. This study aimed to assess its diagnostic efficacy for PH-FM.

Materials And Methods: Patients with PH due to pulmonary artery stenosis were assessed using V/Q SPECT/CT, computed tomography pulmonary angiography (CTPA), and digital subtraction pulmonary angiography (PAG).

We present the case of a 33-year-old patient with atypical pulmonary anatomy secondary to fibrosing mediastinitis who underwent pulmonary thrombectomy with the Lightning Flash aspiration catheter following a pulmonary embolism triggered by tibial osteomyelitis. Despite an inconclusive computed tomography angiography report, the diagnosis was made through clinical evaluation associated with electrocardiographic and echocardiographic changes. Angiography was crucial for diagnosis.

A 25-year-old man reporting weight loss and constitutional symptoms was empirically treated for tuberculosis. Following acute seizures, the patient underwent cerebral imaging and was diagnosed with multiple nonischemic cerebral lesions. Thoracic imaging revealed fibrosing mediastinitis infiltrating and obscuring the left atrium and left ventricle.

An Unexpected Mediastinal Fibrosis Case Detected and Evaluated of Treatment Response With 18F-FDG PET/CT.

Clin Nucl Med

January 2025

From the Department of Nuclear Medicine, University of Health Sciences Turkey, Basaksehir Cam and Sakura City Hospital, Istanbul, Turkey.

IgG4-releated disease is systemic fibroinflammatory disease characterized by infiltration of IgG4-positive plasma cells in the affected tissue. Mediastinal fibrosis, which is also known as fibrosing mediastinitis, is a rare form of IgG4-releated disease. We present a case of mediastinal and retroperitoneal fibrosis in 52-year-old man who was detected with increased radiopharmaceutical uptake in 18F-FDG PET/CT imaging.

Aim: This study aims to explore the rationality, feasibility, safety, and effectiveness of single-incision laparoscopic gastric pull-up (SILS-GPU) and robot-assisted gastric pull-up (R-GPU) methods.

Methods: Hospital records of patients who underwent gastric pull-up with either SILS-GPU or R-GPU between May2016 and January 2024 were reviewed. Demographics, diagnosis, surgical techniques, and postoperative outcomes were evaluated.
