Mounting evidence shows that tumor growth and progression rely on thioredoxin reductase 1 (TXNRD1)-mediated detoxification of oxidative stress that results from deregulated metabolism and mitogenic signaling in tumors. TXNRD1 levels are significant higher in triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) compared to normal tissue, making TXNRD1 a compelling TNBC therapeutic target. Despite the many attempts to generate TXNRD1 inhibitors, all known and reported compounds inhibiting TXNRD1 are problematic; they interact with TXNRD1 irreversibly and non-specifically resulting in numerous adverse side effects.

Of all primary bladder cancers, primary adenocarcinoma is an uncommon tumor. When considering all tumor origin areas, secondary bladder involvement from carcinoma, whether by direct extension or metastasis, is actually more prevalent than primary adenocarcinoma, despite its rarity. The most common source of subsequent bladder tumors is endometrial, lung, colon, prostate, breast, or other organ adenocarcinomas.

Aim: To compare the prognostic value of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) and CD3 + cells and CD20 + cells between schistosomal colorectal cancer (SCRC) and non-schistosomal CRC (NSCRC).
Background: Although schistosomiasis has been basically eliminated, it has not been completely extinction in China, and occasional outbreaks occur in Europe recently. The role of immune cells in the immune microenvironment of SCRC and NSCRC is remaining obscure, and the inflammation-based prognostic systems of SCRC has rarely been reported.

Axillary lymph node schistosomiasis is a form of ectopic schistosomiasis, in which the Schistosoma adult worms or eggs are infected in the axillary lymph nodes. A 53-year-old woman visited our hospital with a small mass in the right armpit, which had been present for over 1 month. Histological examination of biopsy samples from the right axillary lymph nodes revealed granulomas containing calcified Schistosoma eggs.

Schistosomiasis is prevalent in some developing countries; however, it does not commonly affect the breast. Mammary schistosomiasis may present as suspicious microcalcification or a mass on mammography. Image-guided biopsy is necessary to exclude malignancy and identify calcified Schistosoma ova on histology.
