The management of the paralytic conditions in tetraplegia requires understanding neural pathophysiology. A comprehensive rehabilitative and surgical plan requires a multidisciplinary approach. Prior to redistributing the muscle forces across the elbow, a supple osseo-articular platform must be created. The authors recommend PDT and BTT transfers and a FES neuroprosthesis. Future work in this field will advance the application of neuromodulation and its deployment in different neurophysiologic states.

The aim was to evaluate nerve healing using immunohistochemical, histological, and functional techniques and to compare the effects of two different therapeutic ozone application methods by perineural and intraperitoneal ozone treatment in rats with a crush injury model of sciatic nerve. Forty male Sprague Dawley rats were divided into four subgroups of ten rats each: (1) Control group: The left sciatic nerve incised and closed without crush injury, no treatment; (2) Paralyzed group: Crush injury to the left sciatic nerve, no treatment; (3) Perineural ozone group: Crush injury to the left sciatic nerve, treated with perineural ozone therapy; (4) Intraperitoneal ozone group: Crush injury to the left sciatic nerve, treated with intraperitoneal ozone therapy. The treatments were administered for a 14-day period.

Introduction: Medially routed biceps-to-triceps tendon transfer for elbow extension reconstruction in spinal cord injury (SCI) has proven to be a reliable procedure. This technique classically places the tendon transfer superficial to a paralyzed ulnar nerve, with a theoretical risk of compression neuropathy.
Case Presentation: A 21-year-old male with a C5 American Spinal Injury Association Impairment Scale (AIS) grade B SCI who underwent bilateral biceps-to-triceps tendon transfers presented with new-onset paresthesias in the ring and small fingers 10.

Facial nerve palsy can pose functional, psychosocial, and cosmetic issues for patients. Although various surgical techniques can improve facial functions and appearance for patients who do not fully recover following conservative management, they can be extensively invasive with limited restoration of facial movement and symmetry. Functional electrical stimulation (FES) is a technology that has been developed to stimulate paralyzed nerves or muscles and has 2 different applications in facial nerve palsy treatment: facial rehabilitation and neuroprosthesis.
