Objective: To compare two obstetrical approaches toward delivery of the second twin: one of expectant management, and the other, active; to compare the neonatal and maternal results and thereby identify, if possible, the optimal approach.

Study Design: This retrospective study looked at twin births in two maternity units in the Paris, France metropolitan region: Antoine Béclère (AB) in Clamart, and Port-Royal (PR) in Paris and concerned 113 deliveries of pairs of twins at AB and 78 at PR.

Results: The mean duration of the interbirth interval was 9 min at AB and 5 min at PR (P < 0.001). The characteristics of the pregnancies and the deliveries of twin A were comparable. Spontaneous birth accounted for 51% of twin A births at AB and 27% at PR (P < 0.001). Intrauterine manipulation of twin B occurred in 2% of the births at AB and 43% at PR (P < 0.001). At AB, there were five cesareans to deliver the second twin, but none at PR. The Apgar scores at AB and PR were identical, at 1 and 5 min, and for births before 32 weeks' gestation as well as for those afterwards. At AB, 19% (n = 21) of second twins were transferred to the neonatal intensive care unit, and at PR, 18% (n = 14).

Conclusion: The neonatal results were similar in both groups, even though both the rate of obstetric maneuvers and the interbirth interval differed significantly. The two methods therefore appear to be equivalent when judged by the second twin's neonatal indicators. Our data suggest that an active approach diminishes the likelihood of cesarean delivery for the second twin, without increasing the neonatal risk.

Introduction: Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a significant health issue among veterans and poses a substantial risk for pituitary injury. Consensus guidelines recommend that patients who have sustained a TBI should undergo a baseline pituitary hormonal evaluation after the primary brain insult. Patients with abnormal screening test results or with symptoms of hypopituitarism should be referred to endocrinology for a full assessment.

The twin testosterone transfer (TTT) hypothesis posits that females with male co-twins (opposite-sex, OS) might develop male-typical traits due to higher prenatal testosterone exposure. This study explored whether females of OS have lower 2D:4D digit ratios and higher testosterone levels compared to females of same-sex (SS) twin pairs. Conducted in Tamale from January to December 2022, the study included 40 participants aged 18-27 years: 10 males of OS, 10 females of OS, and 20 females of SS twin pairs.

Myricetin has a significant role in pharmacology, specifically in traditional Chinese medicine. The most intriguing pharmacological action of myricetin consists of its multi-pathway anticancer effects. Therefore, rapid and selective isolation of myricetin from garlic and apple juices has notable pharmacological benefits.

Background: The number of meniscal repairs being completed each year is increasing; however, the optimal, cost-effective postoperative assessment to determine the success or failure of a meniscal repair is not well known.

Purpose/hypothesis: The purpose of this systematic review was to identify the clinical examination testing that correlates with objective magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) or second-look arthroscopy (SLA) findings to determine an optimal clinical workup for assessing postoperative meniscal repair healing. It was hypothesized that specific clinical tests would correlate with meniscal repairs that did not heal.

The concentration and purification of trace substances from natural products represent a bottleneck in current chromatographic separations. In this study, a twin-column recycling chromatography with a step solvent gradient method was proposed and successfully applied in the purification of unknown substances with tiny content in yew extracum. The method consists of two steps.
