A novel photochemical transformation from N-alkyl(p-methoxyphenyl)arylamines (1a-1f) to 1,2,4-trihydro(4aH)-carbazol-3-ones (2a-2f) is reported with the assistance of protonation at the dihydrocarbazole intermediate followed by sequential formal [1,5]hydrogen, [1,3]hydrogen shifts and proton assisted hydrolysis.

Metastable-state photoacid (mPAH) has become a common tool for controlling and driving chemical processes with light. However, previously developed mPAHs could not be used for reversible protonation of strong bases, including many common amines and heterocycles. In this work, we developed a novel mPAH using benzimidazole as the structural moiety with the active proton.

An exceedingly porous and interwoven fibrous structure was achieved in this study by interlocking titanium carbide (TiC) MXenes onto the electrospun mats using poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) as the base polymer. The fibrous membrane was further modified with the inclusion of zinc oxide (ZnO) and tungstite (WO·HO) nano/microstructures via annealing and hydrothermal approaches. Through these strategic interfaced morphological developments in novel TiC/ZnO/WO·HO heterostructures, our findings reveal enhanced wettability and charge-segregation desirable for promoting oil-water separation and photoreactivity, respectively.

Astrocytes, integral components of the central nervous system, are increasingly recognized for their multifaceted roles beyond support cells. Despite their acknowledged importance, understanding the intricacies of astrocyte morphological dynamics remains limited. Our study marks the first exploration of astrocytes using optical diffraction tomography (ODT), establishing a label-free, quantitative method to observe morphological changes in astrocytes over a 7-day in-vitro period.

In recent years, visible-light driven photocatalysts present a significant role in different photocatalytic performances. Herein, a novel Z-scheme graphitic carbon nitride nanosheet/polyaniline nanowire (2D/1D CN/PAni) nanocomposite decorated on activated carbon (AC) support was synthesized by solution mixing combined with a calcination process for removal of CR dye under LED irradiation. The chemical, nanostructure, surface and optical properties of as-prepared nanocomposites were analyzed by different spectroscopic and microscopic techniques.

A more efficient signal amplification strategy is needed to improve the performance of promising photoelectrochemical sensors (PEC). Organic photoelectrochemical transistor (OPECT) sensors are of growing interest in many fields, but their potential has not yet been widely exploited and remains a challenge. In this study, a novel organic photoelectrochemical transistor aptamer (OPECT) biosensor combining photoelectrochemical analysis and organic electrochemical transistor with AgI-TiO (AgI-TNs) as photoreactive material and target-specific DNA chain reaction hybridization as signal amplifier for microcystin-LR detection was developed.
