The conformational change induced by the introduction of a ketenedithioacetal moiety at C-4 of 1,7-substituted-1,6-heptadiene-3,5-diones results in favorable spatial relationships between the alkenoyl groups to effect efficient intramolecular cycloadditions: irradiation of bis(alkenoyl)ketenedithioacetals in solution leads to facile and stereospecific intramolecular [2 + 2] photocycloadditions resulting in the formation of substituted bicyclo[3.2.0]heptane-2,4-diones, the observed conformational rigidity of which is attributed to the push-pull character of the ketenedithioacetal group.

The advancement of organic room temperature phosphorescence (RTP) materials has attracted considerable interest owing to their extensive applications. Their distinct advantages, including a metal-free composition, low toxicity, and facile synthesis under ambient conditions, make them highly desirable. This study examines the delayed fluorescence (DF) and RTP of metal-free, amorphous indenophenanthridine (IND)-based derivatives (1-10) and provides insights into molecular functionalisation and host matrix effects on delayed emission (RTP and DF).

RuO-based materials are considered an important kind of electrocatalysts on oxygen evolution reaction and water electrolysis, but the reported discrepancies of activities exist among RuO electrocatalysts prepared via different processes. Herein, a highly efficient RuO catalysts via a facile hydrolysis-annealing approach is reported for water electrolysis. The RuO catalyst dealt with at 200 °C (RuO-200) performs the highest activities on both oxygen evolution reaction (OER) and hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) in acid with overpotentials of 200 mV for OER and 66 mV for HER to reach a current density of 100 mA cm as well as stable operation for100 h.

In the past decade, significant efforts have been made to develop efficient half-Heusler (HH) based thermoelectric (TE) materials. However, their practical applications remain limited due to various challenges occurring during the fabrication of TE devices, particularly the development of stable contacts with low interfacial resistance. In this study, we have made an effort to explore a stable contact material with low interfacial resistance for an n-type TiCoSb-based TE material, specifically TiNbCoSbBi as a proof of concept, using a straightforward facile synthesis route of spark plasma sintering.

Traditional photocatalysts often have limited efficiency due to the high recombination rate of photogenerated electron-hole pairs. In this work, we synthesized 3D/2D ZnSe-MXene heterojunctions by an in situ electrostatic self-assembly method. Notably, the 3% MXene-ZnSe composite exhibited an optimized photocatalytic hydrogen production rate of 765.

A simple and rapid colorimetric detection strategy, based on hydrogen bond identification of 6-thioguanine (6-TG) functionalized Au nanoparticles (AuNPs), is proposed for highly selective and sensitive determination of kanamycin (KA). In this strategy, the hydrogen bond interaction between 6-TG and kanamycin induces AuNPs to agglomerate, with a consequent color change of AuNPs from wine red to purple or even blue. The kanamycin concentrations can be quantified by employing UV-vis spectrophotometer.
