In vivo diffusion tensor imaging of normal rat spinal cord was performed using a multi-segmented, blipped EPI sequence at 7 T field strength. At high diffusion weighting, the signal exhibited a non-monoexponential decay that was fitted to a biexponential function, associated with the fast and slow components of diffusion in the cord tissue, using a nonlinear regression analysis along with a constrained optimization procedure. From the measured tensors, the eigenvalues and the maps of invariant scalar measures (fractional anisotropy, relative anisotropy, volume ratio, and trace) were calculated and analyzed statistically. The results were combined to quantitatively characterize the anisotropic properties of the fast and slow diffusions in white- and gray matter of live spinal cords.

Bacterial diseases alone or in combination with other pathogens lead to significant economic losses in poultry globally including India. One of these diseases is avian colibacillosis which is caused by avian pathogenic Escherichia coli (APEC). The present study sought to isolate and characterize using in vivo and in vitro assays E.

Objective: We aim to determine the maximum safe spatial-peak pulse-average intensity (I) of low-intensity focused ultrasound stimulation (LIFUS) in stroke patients and explore its effect on motor learning and corticospinal excitability.
Methods: We adopted the classic 3+3 design to escalate I (estimated in-vivo transcranial value) from 0, 1, 2, 4, 6, to 8 W/cm. Stopping rules were pre-defined: 2-degree scalp burn, clinical seizure, new lesion on diffusion-weighted imaging or major reduction in apparent diffusion coefficient, and participant discontinuation due to any reason.

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have shown great promise as pH-responsive drug delivery systems, with considerable potential for targeted cancer therapy. In this study, we synthesized a novel curcumin-loaded MOF, named UWO-2 (CUR@UWO-2), and developed its biocomposite form, CS-κ-Cr/CUR@UWO-2, by coating it with chitosan (CS) and κ-carrageenan (κ-Cr). Structural analysis through powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) confirmed the successful synthesis of UWO-2 and the incorporation of CUR within the MOF structure.

Mitochondrial dysfunction contributes to the pathology of hypoxia-ischemia (HI) brain damage by aberrant production of ROS. Hydrogen sulfide (HS) has been demonstrated to exert neuroprotective effects through antioxidant mechanisms. However, the diffusion of HS is not specifically targeted and may even be systemically toxic.

Aim: To evaluate the clinical effectiveness of ozonated sunflower oil (Oz) as an adjunctive of non-surgical periodontal therapy in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM2), on fibroblast cell viability and migration and the effectiveness of Oz on a Candida albicans (C. albicans) culture.
Methodology: In total, 32 sites in 16 DM2 with moderate to advanced periodontal disease with periodontal pocket depths ≥5mm were selected.
