As international research collaborations increase, health care professionals are becoming more aware of the advantages of using common measures to compare outcomes of assessments across cultures. Measuring mood states across diverse cultures is important for understanding the universal aspects of mood and measuring outcomes of nursing interventions. The purpose of this article is to describe the process used to translate the Profile of Mood States Short Form from English to Chinese and to assess the equivalence of this instrument in the two languages. The translated Chinese version of the instrument was found to be as reliable as the original English version and is appropriate for use with Chinese elders who speak either Mandarin or Taiwanese.

Purpose: Limited data exist about the emotional health of transgender youth, either before or after initiation of gender-affirming hormone (GAH). The objectives were: (1) Investigate and verify the factor structure of the National Institutes of Health Toolbox Emotional Battery (NIHTB-EB) among trans and non-binary (TNB) youth; (2) Examine changes in emotional health over 24 months of GAH treatment; and (3) Examine the extent to which changes in emotional health were associated with improved appearance congruence (AC).
Methods: Study respondents were from Trans Youth Care - United States (TYCUS) study, an observational, prospective, longitudinal study of adolescents initiating GAH enrolled between 2016 and 2019.

Background: Voice analysis has emerged as a potential biomarker for mood state detection and monitoring in bipolar disorder (BD). The systematic review aimed to summarize the evidence for voice analysis applications in BD, examining (1) the predictive validity of voice quality outcomes for mood state detection, and (2) the correlation between voice parameters and clinical symptom scales.
Methods: A PubMed, Scopus, and Cochrane Library search was carried out by two investigators for publications investigating voice quality in BD according to Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) statements.
Objective: To update and establish content validity for the Checklist of NICU Caregiver Behaviors.
Design: Structured literature review and Delphi analysis.
Setting/local Problem: Neonates born prematurely or who are sick in the NICU are frequently exposed to harmful stimuli that can affect brain development and result in adverse neurodevelopmental outcomes.

Metabolomics provides powerful tools that can inform about heterogeneity in disease and response to treatments. In this exploratory study, we employed an electrochemistry-based targeted metabolomics platform to assess the metabolic effects of three randomly-assigned treatments: escitalopram, duloxetine, and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in 163 treatment-naïve outpatients with major depressive disorder. Serum samples from baseline and 12 weeks post-treatment were analyzed using targeted liquid chromatography-electrochemistry for metabolites related to tryptophan, tyrosine metabolism and related pathways.
