Clinical application of third-generation dual-source CT-based dynamic imaging reconstruction for pulmonary embolism imaging.

J Cardiothorac Surg

January 2025

Department of Thyroid Breast Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery, Beibei District Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, No. 380 Jiangjun Road, Beibei District, Chongqing, 400700, China.

Background: To evaluate the clinical diagnostic value of third-generation dual-source CT for pulmonary embolism, focusing on the optimization of dual-source CT scanning with dynamic reconstruction in acute pulmonary embolism (PE) and various imaging manifestations.

Methods: Eighty-two patients with pulmonary embolism were enrolled and randomly divided into standard CT angiography (SCTA) and dynamic CT angiography (DCTA). DCTA patients were divided into dynamic CT angiography arterial phase (DCTAa), time phase Angiography reconstruction (TMIP-CTA), and 4D noise reduction TMIP-CTA according to the image reconstruction.

The success rate of infrazygomatic mini-implants placed with and without surgical guides: a historical control study.

BMC Oral Health

January 2025

State Key Laboratory of Oral & Maxillofacial Reconstruction and Regeneration, National Clinical Research Center for Oral Diseases, Shaanxi Clinical Research Center for Oral Disease, Department of Orthodontics, School of Stomatology, the Fourth Military Medical University, No. 145, Changle West Road, Xincheng District, Xi'an, Shanxi, China.

Background: To improve the success rate of mini-implants, some surgical guides have been developed through digital technologies to achieve three-dimensional (3D) guided mini-implants insertion. However, there is no a surgical guide which can be applied for the insertion of infrazygomatic mini-implant. In this study, we introduced a two-trajectories surgical guide and investigated the success rate of infrazygomatic mini-implants under the guidance of the template.

Metformin reverses infertility in a mouse model of endometriosis: unveiling disease pathways and implications for future clinical approaches.

Reprod Biomed Online

October 2024

Department of Biomedicine Experimental Biology Unit, Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto, Porto, Portugal.; Instituto de Investigação e Inovação em Saúde (i3S), Porto, Portugal.. Electronic address:

Research Question: Does metformin reverse endometriosis-associated infertility?

Design: Endometriosis was induced by transplanting uterus fragments from B6CBAF1 mice into recipients of the same strain. The mice were divided into groups: endometriosis (End, n = 24), sham-operated (Sham, n = 12), endometriosis with metformin (0.5mg/ml) orally administered for 3 months (EndMet, n = 21) and sham-operated metformin-treated (ShamMet, n = 16).

Background: Computer-assisted learning (CAL) has the potential to enhance learning outcomes and satisfaction. However, there are limited reports in the literature that describe or evaluate the implementation of this method to promote competency-based learning in removable partial denture (RPD) design. Therefore, this study aimed to: (1) compare the effectiveness of different learning methods using a 3D software-aided RPD design program, (2) evaluate the learning outcomes associated with these different methods following active learning, and (3) assess students' satisfaction.

Background: The objective of this review is to evaluate the methodological quality of meta-analyses and observe the consistency of the evidence they generated to provide comprehensive and reliable evidence for the clinical use of three-dimensional (3D) printing in surgical treatment of fracture.

Methods: We searched three databases (PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science) up until August 2024. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) standards were adhered to in this review.
