Liposarcomas of the gastrointestinal tract are exceedingly rare. Only nine cases of esophageal involvement have been described. A 68-year-old woman presented with an episode of vomiting followed by extrusion of a polypoid mass from the mouth. This 10th case of esophageal liposarcoma is the first in the literature to report a recurrence 25 years after the first episode.

Retroperitoneal liposarcoma is a rare malignancy that arises from adipocytes and can expand significantly before manifesting clinical symptoms. Instances of giant retroperitoneal liposarcoma, defined as tumors larger than 30 cm, are extremely rare, with fewer than 20 reported cases. This case report presents a 68-year-old patient with a significant abdominal mass, ultimately identified and treated as a well-differentiated retroperitoneal liposarcoma.

A 61-year-old woman presented to our team with giant mediastinal liposarcoma causing compression of the esophagus, bronchus, and left atrium. Given the patient's advanced presentation and reduced cardiac reserve, rescue venoarterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation was used in addition to standard robotic-assisted thoracic surgery for mass resection.
