ARTIFICIAL NEURAL NETWORKS TO ESTIMATE THE SORPTION AND DESORPTION OF THE HERBICIDE LINURON IN BRAZILIAN SOILS.

Environ Pollut

Departamento de Agronomia e Ciências Florestais, Universidade Federal Rural do Semi-Árido, Mossoró, AV. Francisco Mota, 572 - Pres. Costa E Silva, Mossoró - RN, 59625-900, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. Electronic address:

Generally, herbicides used in Brazil follow manufacturer's recommendations, which often do not consider soil attributes. Statistical models that include the physicochemical properties of the soil involved in herbicide retention processes could enable greater precision in herbicide dose decision-making. This study evaluated the potential of artificial neural networks (ANNs) to predict the sorption and desorption of the herbicide linuron in Brazilian soils with different attributes.

Advanced KNN-based cost-efficient algorithm for precision localization and energy optimization in dynamic underwater sensor networks.

Sci Rep

January 2025

Department of Natural and Engineering Sciences, College of Applied Studies and Community Services, King Saud University, Riyadh, 11543, Saudi Arabia.

Underwater environmental exploration using sensor nodes has emerged as a critical endeavor fraught with challenges such as localization errors, energy, and costs attributed to the dynamic nature of underwater environments. This paper proposes a KNN-based cost-efficient machine-learning algorithm aimed at optimizing underwater context acquisition with sensor nodes. By addressing existing localization challenges, the algorithm minimizes localization errors, energy consumption and Time costs while significantly enhancing localization accuracy to 99.

Writing and drawing tilts after right hemisphere stroke are signs of a wrong verticality representation.

Ann Phys Rehabil Med

January 2025

University Grenoble Alpes, UMR CNRS 5105 Neuropsychology and NeuroCognition, CHU Grenoble Alpes, Dept of NeuroRehabilitation South Hospital, Cs 10217-38043 Grenoble cedex 9, France. Electronic address:

Background: Many signs of spatial dysgraphia and drawing errors after right hemispheric stroke (RHS) have been attributed to spatial neglect or impaired sensory feedback. Counterclockwise (contralesional) tilts of graphomotor productions remained to be explained.

Objective: To test whether graphomotor tilts stem from a tilted representation of verticality transposed to the top/bottom axis of the sheet of paper, using data from the DOBRAS cohort.

Purpose: The spot size of scanned particle beams is of crucial importance for the correct dose delivery and, therefore, plays a significant role in the quality assurance (QA) of pencil beam scanning ion beam therapy.

Materials And Methods: This study compares 5 detector types-radiochromic film, ionization chamber (IC) array, flat panel detector, multiwire chamber, and IC-for measuring the spot size of proton and carbon ion beams.

Results: Variations of up to 30% were found between detectors, underscoring the impact of detector choice on QA outcomes.

Differential insulin response characteristics of graphene oxide-gold nanoparticle composites under varied synthesis conditions.

PLoS One

January 2025

Key Laboratory of Clinical Evaluation Technology for Medical Device of Zhejiang Province, Department of Clinical Engineering and Material Supplies, The First Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, Hangzhou, P.R. China.

The structural alterations in the constituent materials of nanocomposites such as graphene nanocomposites typically induce changes in their properties including mechanical, electrical, and optical properties. Therefore, by altering the preparation conditions of nanocomposites and investigating their responsiveness to basic biomolecules (such as proteins), it is possible to explore the application potentials of the composites and guide development of new nanocomposite preparation. In this study, different composites of graphene oxide and gold nanoparticles (AuNPs/GO) were obtained by varying the volumes of reducing agents used in the one-pot hydrothermal method.
