This review elucidates the comprehensive applications of NSG in pediatric care, emphasizing its role in early diagnosis and management of pathologies affecting the pediatric head-such as scalp lesions, misshapen calvarium, ventricular distortions, and cerebrovascular abnormalities, and its specific role in conditions like hypoxic-ischaemic encephalopathy (HIE) across different neonatal gestational ages. We explore its diagnostic advantage in critical care settings, particularly for infants with stroke risk in sickle cell disease, ECMO-related complications, screening for therapeutic hypothermia, and routine neonatal intensive care unit monitoring.

In cartilage conduction (CC), a vibrator is presented onto the cartilage of the ear instead of the bony parts of the head used in ordinary bone conduction (BC). Because the auricle cartilage is softer and lighter than the bone, it doesn't require as much pressure as BC, which may cause discomfort (or pain) in the area where a BC transducer is being pressed. However, CC is a relatively new technology, and whether the less dense characteristics of cartilage, which varies from person to person, result in a better sound perception is still being studied.

There have been unpublished reports of a follicular dysplastic syndrome in adult white-tailed deer (; WTD), known colloquially as "toothpaste hair disease." The current report aims to describe the gross and histologic lesions in skin samples from 2 adult WTDs that presented to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the Wisconsin Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory with reports of hair loss in 2018. Both cases were grossly alopecic with sparing of the distal extremities and variably the head and neck.
