A liquid chromatographic (LC) method with diode array detection (DAD) was developed for screening of 10 sulfonyl urea herbicide residues in unpolished rice. The investigated herbicides were azimsulfuron, bensulfuron-methyl, chlorimuron-ethyl, chlorsulfuron, ethoxysulfuron, flazasulfuron, imazosulfuron, metsulfuron-methyl, pyrazosulfuron-ethyl and tribenuron-methyl. Acetonitrile-water (2:1) extracts of rice samples were cleaned up with solid-phase extraction cartridges (octadecylsilane-bonded silica (ODS) and graphitized carbon black (GCB)). Three fractions of the GCB eluate were taken for analysis using 3 separate injections in order to avoid interference in LC-DAD analysis and to reduce analyte coelution problems. Recoveries from rice samples fortified with the 10 herbicides at 0.05 and 0.2 microgram/g ranged from 46.6 to 119.6%, and coefficients of variation were 3.1-12.6%. The quantitation limits were 0.01-0.02 microgram/g.

Aims: The utilization of sulfonylurea (SU) for the management of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) has witnessed a decline, attributed to the rising popularity of alternative medications and uncertainties surrounding the cardiovascular risk profile of SUs. This study aimed to investigate the potential association between SU intake and the incidence of cardiovascular events in patients with T2DM.

Methods: A retrospective cohort study, based on a general practice (GP) registry, was designed, encompassing patients diagnosed with T2DM between 2005 and 2014.

The hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α) pathway has been implicated in tumor angiogenesis, growth, and metastasis. Therefore, the inhibition of this pathway is an important therapeutic target for cancer. Thiazole derivatives have been reported to have diverse biological activities, especially in terms of anti-tumor.

Gaseous Reagent for Multicomponent Amine Bioconjugation.

Org Lett

August 2024

Department of Chemistry, Rice University, Houston, Texas 77005, United States.

We report a minimalist gaseous sulfonyl-chloride-derived reagent for multicomponent bioconjugation with amine, phenol, or aniline reagents to afford urea or carbamate products. With the utilization of a gas-phase reagent for a reaction mediated by metal ions, a variety of biologically relevant molecules, such as saccharide, poly(ethylene glycol), fluorophore, and affinity tag, can be efficiently cross-linked to the N terminus or lysine side-chain amines on natural polypeptides or proteins.

Switchable Deep Eutectic Solvents for Sustainable Sulfonamide Synthesis.

A sustainable and scalable protocol for synthesizing variously functionalized sulfonamides, from amines and sulfonyl chlorides, has been developed using environmentally responsible and reusable choline chloride (ChCl)-based deep eutectic solvents (DESs). In ChCl/glycerol (1 : 2 mol mol) and ChCl/urea (1 : 2 mol mol), these reactions yield up to 97 % under aerobic conditions at ambient temperature within 2-12 h. The practicality of the method is exemplified by the sustainable synthesis of an FFA4 agonist and a key building block en route to anti-Alzheimer drug BMS-299897.

Evaluation of the Therapeutic Potential of Sulfonyl Urea Derivatives as Soluble Epoxide Hydrolase (sEH) Inhibitors.

Molecules

Section on Medicinal Chemistry, National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), National Institutes of Health (NIH), 5625 Fishers Lane, Rockville, MD 20852, USA.

The inhibition of soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) can reduce the level of dihydroxyeicosatrienoic acids (DHETs) effectively maintaining endogenous epoxyeicosatrienoic acids (EETs) levels, resulting in the amelioration of inflammation and pain. Consequently, the development of sEH inhibitors has been a prominent research area for over two decades. In the present study, we synthesized and evaluated sulfonyl urea derivatives for their potential to inhibit sEH.
