The landing sites on the human body preferred by Aedes albopictus were examined. Five male volunteers wearing only shorts stood in a mosquito net enclosure containing 120 proboscis-amputated Ae. albopitus. In separate tests, 9 male volunteers and 1 female volunteer lay supine during the test. The number of mosquitoes landing on each site of the volunteer's body was counted, and after completion of the test, his or her body temperature was recorded. When the subject was upright, the landing site most preferred by mosquitoes was the foot. When volunteers were supine, the foot also was the most preferred landing site, but the proportion of mosquitoes landing on the foot in this position in comparison with other sites was lower than when the Volunteer was in the upright position. The 2nd most preferred landing site was the hand, followed by the face. No correlation was found between preferred landing sites and body temperature. Factors other than temperature (e.g., human emanation) may influence mosquito behavior and landing site.

Oxia Planum, Mars, is the future landing site of the ExoMars rover mission, which will search for preserved biosignatures in a phyllosilicate-bearing unit. Overlying the mission-important phyllosilicate-bearing rocks is a dark, capping unit-known here as the Low albedo, Thin, Resistant (LTR) unit-which may have protected the phyllosilicate-bearing unit over geologic time from solar insolation and radiation. However, little is known about the origin of the LTR unit.

During routine veterinary inspection of fish from fishing boats, fish auction yards, and fish landing stations, as well as the large fish market for detection of fish diseases, abnormalities and/or overgrowth in body surfaces and evaluation of hygienic conditions and fish quality at El-Jubail Province, Saudi Arabia., external neoplastic overgrowths were observed in two fish species, giant sea catfish (Arius thalassinus) and Delagoa threadfin bream (Nemipterus bipunctatu). In both fishes, the neoplasms appeared as bony masses, and it was hard in its consistency.

Aspergillus niger is a powerful and efficient cell factory, with the potential to synthesize valuable products as chassis cells. The use of microbial cell factories to produce monacolin J, a precursor for statin synthesis, as an alternative to chemical synthesis could meet increasing market demand. However, the need for precise large fragment gene editing and the availability of suitable integration loci hinders the application of this strain.

The Chinese Mars rover Zhurong successfully landed in southern Utopia Planitia on Mars in May 2021. Previous research suggested a Hesperian ocean may have existed in the northern lowland on Mars. Recent research observed water-related features at the Zhurong landing site from in situ data.
