The electrocardiographic changes were studied in autopsyproven fresh atrial infarction and compared with the morphological pattern of the lesion. The infarction was found to localize predominantly in the posterior wall of the right atrium. The morphological pattern of atrial infarction was similar to the changes developing in focal lesions of the left ventricular myocardium. The electrocardiographic pattern was characterized by the development of various rhythm and conductivity disorders, PQ (S-TP) segment shift, longer duration of the P wave, changes in its morphology, increase in the Macrus index. The electrocardiographic signs were demonstrated most comprehensively in cases of transmural lesions and with approximately the same rate on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd day of the lesion.

Importance: The net clinical effect of early vs later direct oral anticoagulant (DOAC) initiation after atrial fibrillation-associated ischemic stroke is unclear.
Objective: To investigate whether early DOAC treatment is associated with a net clinical benefit (NCB).
Design, Setting, And Participants: This was a post hoc analysis of the Early Versus Late Initiation of Direct Oral Anticoagulants in Post-Ischaemic Stroke Patients With Atrial Fibrillation (ELAN) open-label randomized clinical trial conducted across 103 sites in 15 countries in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia between November 6, 2017, and September 12, 2022, with a 90-day follow-up.

Importance: In the Atrial Cardiopathy and Antithrombotic Drugs in Prevention After Cryptogenic Stroke (ARCADIA) randomized clinical trial, anticoagulation did not prevent recurrent stroke among patients with a recent cryptogenic stroke and atrial cardiopathy. It is unknown whether anticoagulation prevents covert infarcts in this population.
Objective: To test the use of apixaban vs aspirin for prevention of nonlacunar covert infarcts after cryptogenic stroke in patients with atrial cardiopathy.

Background: A significant number of patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) on direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) receives off-label or inappropriate doses. This study examines the prevalence, dosages, and clinical outcomes in AF-patients on DOAC therapy admitted to an emergency department (ED).
Methods: This retrospective single-center observational study utilized data from the Heidelberg Registry of Atrial Fibrillation (HERA-FIB), consecutively including patients with AF presenting to the ED of the University Hospital of Heidelberg from June 2009 to March 2020.

Papillary fibroelastomas (PFEs) are rare, benign, primary cardiac tumors, typically found on the valve surfaces and more commonly on the left side of the heart, with occurrences in the right atrium even rarer. In this case, a highly mobile tumor was incidentally detected in the right atrium of an 83-year-old woman with advanced right lung cancer during preoperative transthoracic echocardiography and magnetic resonance imaging. Although the patient was asymptomatic and of advanced age, the tumor's high mobility warranted resection.

Atrial fibrillation (AF)/atrial flutter (AFL) is the most common sustained cardiac arrhythmia. The known risk factors for developing AF/AFL include age, structural heart disease, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, or hyperthyroidism. This study aims to attribute the trends in AF/AFL-related mortalities over the past two decades 1999-2020 concerning race and sex and disparity among them.
