Modular hobs are tools with very complex geometry. Regardless of the material of the gear wheels, they determine the accuracy of the gears made in the hobbing machining process. Gears are made of various, often innovative materials depending on the requirements.

ADP-ribosylation is a reversible post-translational modification involved in various cellular activities. Removal of ADP-ribosylation requires (ADP-ribosyl)hydrolases, with macrodomain enzymes being a major family in this category. The pathogen Legionella pneumophila mediates atypical ubiquitination of host targets using the SidE effector family in a process that involves ubiquitin ADP-ribosylation on arginine 42 as an obligatory step.

We demonstrate direct-write patterning of single and multilayer MoS via a focused electron beam-induced etching (FEBIE) process mediated with the XeF precursor. MoS etching is performed at various currents, areal doses, on different substrates, and characterized using scanning electron and atomic force microscopies as well as Raman and photoluminescence spectroscopies. Scanning transmission electron microscopy reveals a sub-40 nm etching resolution and the progression of point defects and lateral etching of the consequent unsaturated bonds.

Video monitoring of mice in the home-cage reveals behavior profiles without the disruptions caused by specialized test setups and makes it possible to quantify changes in behavior patterns continually over long time frames. Several commercial home-cage monitoring systems are available with varying costs and capabilities; however there are currently no open-source systems for home-cage monitoring. We present an open-source system for top-down video monitoring of research mice in a slightly modified home-cage.

Key Points: Adoption and extended time on peritoneal dialysis require patient input across a spectrum of needs, including automated PD (APD) device usability features that are less intimidating to patients and enable lifestyle advantages. Analysis of APD features critical to patients align with patient priorities identified in Standardized Outcomes in NephroloGy-PD: shorter setup time, mobility within the home, near silent operation, and modified APD size/orientation.
Background: Despite offering greater lifestyle benefits to patients with ESKD, adoption of peritoneal dialysis (PD) remains low globally, particularly among minorities and the socioeconomically disadvantaged.
