The peak flow meter is commonly used to diagnose and follow up asthma in children and adults. This practice, however, is not supported by evidence from the literature. The amount of overlap in peak flow level and variation between healthy and asthmatic subjects precludes the use of peak flow diaries as a reliable tool in diagnosing asthma. It has also become clear that the correlation between peak flow variation and other indices of asthma severity is inconsistent. Moreover, children and adults have been shown to be unreliable in keeping peak flow diaries: 20-40% of all recorded values in a peak flow diary are invented, and another 25% are recorded inaccurately. Finally, self-management programmes for asthma have been shown to be effective, whether they incorporate peak flow monitoring or not. Therefore, peak flow registration cannot be recommended for the routine diagnosis and follow-up of asthma. In isolated cases however, such as patients who poorly perceive a deterioration of their asthma, or when it is unclear what triggers asthmatic symptoms, the peak flow meter can be useful.

Background: Right ventricular restrictive physiology (RVRP) is a common occurrence in repaired tetralogy of Fallot (rTOF). The relationship of RVRP with biventricular blood flow components and kinetic energy (KE) from 4-dimensional (4D) flow cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) is unclear.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the association of 4D flow CMR parameters with RVRP in rTOF patients.

Background: Tissue metabolomics analysis, alongside genomics and proteomics, offers crucial insights into the regulatory mechanisms of tumorigenesis. To enhance metabolite detection sensitivity, chemical isotope labeling (CIL) techniques, such as dansylation, have been developed to improve metabolite separation and ionization in mass spectrometry (MS). However, the dissolution of hydrophobic derivatized metabolites in solvents with high acetonitrile content limits the use of liquid chromatography (LC) systems with small-volume reversed-phase (RP) columns.

Objectives: To evaluate possible predictors of elevated postvoid residual volume (PVR) following onabotulinumtoxinA administration in patients with idiopathic overactive bladder (OAB), a condition that may include urinary urgency, frequency, and nocturia, without any identifiable cause or underlying neurological or metabolic condition.
Methods: Adults who had been treated with 100-200 U onabotulinumtoxinA for OAB and had previous failure of other OAB treatments were identified by retrospective review of medical chart data from three urology clinics in the United States treating patients with a variety of urological conditions. A total of 211 patients were allocated to cohorts based on posttreatment PVR < 200 mL (n = 173) and ≥ 200 mL (n = 38).

Background: We have recently shown that, during acute severe COVID-19, SARS-CoV-2 spike protein (S) induces a cascade of events resulting in T cell apoptosis. Indeed, by neutralizing the protease activity of its receptor, ACE2, S induces an increase in circulating Angiotensin II (AngII), resulting in monocytic release of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and programmed T cell death.
Objective: Here, we tested whether SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccines, known to cause the circulation of the vaccine antigen, S-protein receptor binding domain (RBD), might trigger the same cascade.

Aim: To assess transmural remission in patients with Crohn's disease using low-dose small bowel computed tomography (CT) perfusion scans.
Materials And Methods: Forty six patients were divided into active and remission phases based on Crohn's Disease Activity Index (CDAI) and C-reactive protein (CRP). Dual-source CT enterography with low-dose perfusion scans was conducted to generate perfusion parameter maps, including blood flow (BF), blood volume (BV), time to peak (TTP), mean transit time (MTT), and permeability of surface (PS).
