Background: Adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) is a rare malignant tumor that accounts for <1 % of head and neck malignancies, with an estimated involvement of the tongue at approximately 3 %.
Case Presentation: This report presents a case of a 42-year-old male with no significant history of tobacco or alcohol use, who developed a painless, progressively enlarging mass on the ventral surface of his tongue over the course of eight months. Initial surgical resection confirmed the diagnosis of ACC, which necessitated a right hemiglossectomy followed by radiotherapy to address potential residual disease.

Previous research suggests that frailty better predicts adverse outcomes compared with historical risk proxies including age. We examined the association between frailty as measured by the 5-factor modified frailty index and postoperative complications following VHR as reported in the National Surgical Quality Improvement Program database.

Postpartum depression (PPD) affects up to 20% of new mothers and has adverse consequences for the well-being of both mother and child. Exposure to stress during pregnancy as well as dysregulation in the mesolimbic dopamine (DA) reward system and its upstream modulator oxytocin (OT) have been independently linked to PPD. However, no studies have directly examined DA or OT signaling in the postpartum brain after gestational stress.
