We address possible limitations of publicly available data sets of yeast gene expression. We study the predictability of known regulators via time-series analysis, and show that less than 20% of known regulatory pairs exhibit strong correlations in the Cho/Spellman data sets. By analyzing known regulatory relationships, we designed an edge detection function which identified candidate regulations with greater fidelity than standard correlation methods. We develop general methods for integrated analysis of coarse time-series data sets. These include 1) methods for automated period detection in a predominately cycling data set and 2) phase detection between phase-shifted cyclic data sets. We show how to properly correct for the problem of comparing correlation coefficients between pairs of sequences of different lengths and small alphabets. Finally, we note that the correlation coefficient of sequences over alphabets of size two can exhibit very counterintuitive behavior when compared with the Hamming distance.

Objective: This project demonstrates the feasibility of connecting medical imaging data and features, SARS-CoV-2 genome variants, with clinical data in the National Clinical Cohort Collaborative (N3C) repository to accelerate integrative research on detection, diagnosis, and treatment of COVID-19-related morbidities. The N3C curated a rich collection of aggregated and de-identified electronic health records (EHR) data of over 18 million patients, including 7.5 million COVID-positive patients, seen at hospitals across the United States.

This article presents a comprehensive dataset compiling reported cases of typhoid fever from culture-confirmed outbreaks across various geographical locations from 2000 through 2022, categorized into daily, weekly, and monthly time series. The dataset was curated by identifying peer-reviewed epidemiological studies available in PubMed, OVID-Medline, and OVID-Embase. Time-series incidence data were extracted from plots using WebPlotDigitizer, followed by verification of a subset of the dataset.

Perceptual awareness results from an intricate interaction between external sensory input and the brain's spontaneous activity. Pre-stimulus ongoing activity influencing conscious perception includes both brain oscillations in the alpha (7 to 14 Hz) and beta (14 to 30 Hz) frequency ranges and aperiodic activity in the slow cortical potential (SCP, <5 Hz) range. However, whether brain oscillations and SCPs independently influence conscious perception or do so through shared mechanisms remains unknown.

Aims/hypothesis: COMBINE 2 assessed the efficacy and safety of once-weekly IcoSema (a combination therapy of basal insulin icodec and semaglutide) vs once-weekly semaglutide (a glucagon-like peptide-1 analogue) 1.0 mg in individuals with type 2 diabetes inadequately managed with GLP-1 receptor agonist (GLP-1 RA) therapy, with or without additional oral glucose-lowering medications.
Methods: This 52 week, randomised, multicentre, open-label, parallel group, Phase IIIa trial was conducted across 121 sites in 13 countries/regions.

Cardiac myxoma (CM) is an important aetiology of stroke in young adults, and its diagnosis is difficult in patients having stroke because of the lack of diagnostic biomarkers. Tumour-derived exosomes play a crucial role in tumour growth, metastasis, immune regulation, and monitor disease development. Hence,we established an RNA-sequencing dataset for long non-coding RNA (lncRNA), microRNA (miRNA), and messenger RNA (mRNA) in the plasma and tumour-derived exosomes from four patients with cardiac myxoma-related ischaemic stroke (CM-IS) and six patients with cardiac myxoma without ischaemic stroke (non-IS CM).
