ConspectusPorous frameworks possess high porosity and adjustable functions. The two features conjointly create sufficient interfaces for matter exchange and energy transfer within the skeletons. For crystalline porous frameworks, including metal organic frameworks (MOFs) and covalent organic frameworks (COFs), their long-range ordered structures indeed play an important role in managing versatile physicochemical behaviors such as electron transfer or band gap engineering.

Radical-radical reactions can generate two channels with high and low spins. In this work, ten radical-radical reactions with different spin channels and four radical-molecule reactions in hydrogen-oxygen combustion were systematically investigated from a theoretical perspective. The potential energy surface (PES) of radical-radical reactions reveals that the high- and low-spin states of the reactant are energetically degenerate and the two channels are energetically feasible.

Acetonitrile (CHCN) is present in the interstellar medium (ISM) in a variety of environments. However, at the ultracold temperatures of the ISM, radical-molecule reactions are not widely investigated because of the experimental handicap of getting organic molecules in the gas phase by conventional techniques. The CRESU (French acronym for Reaction Kinetics in a Uniform Supersonic Flow) technique solves this problem.

Our automated reaction discovery program, AutoMeKin, has been utilized to investigate the formation of glycolonitrile (HOCHCN) in the gas phase under the low temperatures of the interstellar medium (ISM). The feasibility of a proposed pathway depends on the absence of barriers above the energy of reactants and the availability of the suggested precursors in the ISM. Based on these criteria, several radical-radical reactions and a radical-molecule reaction have been identified as viable formation routes in the ISM.

The indirect effect of radiation plays an important role in radio-induced biological damages. Monte Carlo codes have been widely used in recent years to study the chemical evolution of particle tracks. However, due to the large computational efforts required, their applicability is typically limited to simulations in pure water targets and to temporal scales up to the µs.
