Background/aim: Lipoprotein(a) (Lp(a)) is a complex protein involved in the transport of insoluble lipids in plasma. Its expression is predominantly genetically determined, with 70% to over 90% influenced by the number of Kringle IV type 2 domains. This study investigated the association between preoperative serum Lp(a) level and development of post-pancreatectomy nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) in patients who underwent pancreatectomy.

Purpose: There are limited reports on the potential link between Lp(a) and ARDM. Thus, we examined the relationship between Lp(a) and ARDM among hypertensive patients.
Methods: We used echocardiography to measure ARDM in 513 consecutively hospitalized patients.

Background: Lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] is a low-density lipoprotein variant with atherogenic, thrombogenic, and pro-inflammatory properties that may have numerous pathologic effects, including dyslipidemia. Screening for Lp(a) is clinically significant, due to its causal role in atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD). Among clinicians, however, there remains a general lack of both clinical awareness of Lp(a) and adequate tools to track Lp(a) testing in patients.

Background: To study effect of pregnancy on obese women's maternal cardiometabolic biomarkers as a signature for maternal morbidity and complications.
Methods: This cross-sectional cohort study involved pregnant Emirati women who had regular menstrual cycles and had normal blood pressure. Pre-pregnancy body mass index was calculated using height and weight measurements recorded within three months before current pregnancy.

Background: Elevated lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] is a common hyperlipidaemic condition with strong genetic predisposition and is independently associated with ischaemic heart disease (IHD). A Mendelian randomisation study has suggested that elevated Lp(a) is likely to confer similar causal risks as heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia for premature IHD. We aimed to characterise the clinical profiles of admitted patients with IHD with at least one Lp(a) measurement.
