A second-generation 1,3,5-phenylene-based dendritic porphyrin decorated with flexible alkyl chains exhibited a liquid crystallinity, and the inclusion of fullerene within the nanospace of the dendritic porphyrin strongly affected the mesophase structure in the thermotropic liquid-crystalline phase.

Tolerogenic dendritic cells with professional antigen presentation via major histocompatibility complex molecules, co-stimulatory molecules (CD80/86), and interleukin 10 production have attracted significant attention as cellular therapies for autoimmune, allergic, and graft-versus-host diseases. In this study, we developed a cell culture dish equipped with polycation-porphyrin-conjugate-immobilized glass (PA-HP-G) to stimulate immature murine dendritic cell (iDCs). Upon irradiation with a red light at 635 nm toward the PA-HP-G surface, singlet oxygen was generated by the immobilized porphyrins on the PA-HP-G surface.

Limited drug accumulation and an immunosuppressive microenvironment are the major bottlenecks in the treatment of glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). Herein, we report a copper-coordination driven brain-targeting nanoassembly (TCe6@Cu/TP5 NPs) for site-specific delivery of therapeutic agents and efficient immunotherapy by activating the cGAS-STING pathway and downregulating the expression of PD-L1. To achieve this, the mitochondria-targeting triphenylphosphorus (TPP) was linked to photosensitizer Chlorin e6 (Ce6) to form TPP-Ce6 (TCe6), which was then self-assembled with copper ions and thymopentin (TP5) to obtain TCe6@Cu/TP5 NPs.

A Zn-coordinated porphyrinic artificial solid-electrolyte interphase (αSEI) layer, named [Zn]PP-4COO-(Zn), was developed to improve the reversibility of zinc metal plating/stripping in aqueous zinc-ion batteries (ZIBs). Inspired by nitrogen-terminating sites of biological molecules coordinating and transporting zinc in zinc metabolic processes, the αSEI layer was designed with zinc ions connecting porphyrinic building blocks to form two-dimensional clathrate sheets and stacking -plane sheets along the -axis to allow N cages to align and form porphyrinic N channels for zinc transport. The [Zn]PP-4COO-(Zn) αSEI layer was Zn-conductive and structurally durable during repeated stripping/plating.

Article Synopsis
  • * Increased G4 formations in colorectal cancer cells are linked to more CD8 T cell infiltration, and the G4 ligand TMPyP4 has been shown to hinder cancer growth and stimulate immune responses.
  • * TMPyP4 not only stops cancer cell division but also boosts anti-tumor immunity by activating the cGAS-STING pathway, and its combination with anti-PD1 therapy shows enhanced effects against colorectal cancer.

Lithium (Li) metal batteries with remarkable energy densities are restrained by short lifetime and low Coulombic efficiency (CE), resulting from the accumulative Li dendrites and dead Li during cycling. Here, we prepared a new three-dimensional (3D) covalent organic framework (COF) with dense lithiophilic sites (heteoatom weight contents of 32.32 wt %) as an anodic protective layer of Li metal batteries.
