The pollution of waters ecosystems is caused by natural and artificial factors in Tarim River. Temporal and spatial variation of surface runoff is the main reason for changes of coupling relationship between water and salt. In the end of 1950s, mineralization degree was less than 1.0 g.L-1 from the upper reaches to the lower reaches of Tetema Lake in Tarim River. At present, only in July, August and October, mineralization degree is less than 1.0 g.L-1. During the other months, mineralization degree is more than 3.0 g.L-1 in Alaer Lake. In Qiala (the lower reaches of Tarim River), mineralization degree is more than 1.0 g.L-1 except in March. Moreover, mineralization degree is about 5.0 g.L-1 in July and December. It is showed that annual water quality belongs to the fifth seriously polluted water in Alaer, Xinquman and Yingbazha. Meanwhile, annual water quality in Qiala belongs to the fourth polluted water. In a word, water quality state and hydrological chemistry component are the most obviously indicator for coupling relationship between water and salt in Tarim River.

The characteristics of heartwood and sapwood not only reflect tree growth and site quality but also provide insights into habitat changes. This study examines the natural Oliv. forest in the Arghan section of the lower Tarim River, comparing the heartwood and sapwood characteristics of at different distances from the river, as well as at varying trunk heights and diameters at breast height (DBH).

To diversify wine production in Xinjiang and address the issue of wine homogenization, it is crucial to leverage the unique climatic advantages of each grape-producing area to foster a high-quality wine industry. Using meteorological data from 80 national standard meteorological stations in Xinjiang, spanning 1961 to 2019, this study established a climatic zoning index system tailored to distinct grape varieties for wines, including dry red, dry white, ice wine, sparkling wine, and natural sweet wines. The system is formulated based on key climatic factors such as the frost-free period, ≥ 10 °C active accumulated temperature (AAT10), mean temperature of the coldest month, annual extreme minimum temperature, and dryness.

The reservoir in focus has braided river delta front deposition, with multiple periods of submerged distributary channels within the reservoir. It also displays frequent cutting and stacking with local-connecting characteristics. Forecasting the sand distribution characteristics between wells in this type of reservoir brings a significant challenge for modeling.

Soil salinization becomes serious under climate change and human activities. Although the residue decomposition contributes lots to soil carbon storage and fertility, the decomposition process and microbial mechanisms on saline-alkali soils are still vague facing climate change. We measured the mass loss of residue (0, 4, 8, 15, 30, 60 and 90 days), CO emission (every two days), and the microbial community structure (0, 4, 15 and 90 days) by using the litter bag method, gas chromatography and high-throughput sequencing technology during the residue decomposition (90 days) in a saline-alkali soil from the Tarim River Basin, China under various temperatures (15 °C, 25 °C, 35 °C) and soil moisture levels (20%, 40%, 60% water holding capacity).

Microplastic pollution in agricultural soils poses a significant threat to soil quality and environmental sustainability. This study investigated the composition, abundance, distribution, ecological risk, and environmental carrying capacity of microplastic pollution in the Tarim River Basin (TRB), China. The risk quotient combined with soil environmental carrying capacity (SECC) approaches was proposed to evaluate ecological risks and soil sustainability.
