Enantiomeric ratios of compounds with P=Se functionalities (phosphine selenides) can easily be determined by (1)H, (13)C, (31)P, and (77)Se NMR spectroscopic inspection of their diastereomeric complexes with (R)-Rh(2)(MTPA)(4) (MTPA-H identical with methoxytrifluoromethylphenylacetic acid; Mosher's acid). This is the first facile and rapid spectroscopic method for chiral recognition in this class of compounds. Whereas most complexation shifts Delta(delta) are moderate or even negligible, significant signal dispersions Delta(nu) can be observed. Some rationalization for the adduct formation mode is presented. NMR spectral characteristics of the free P=Se compounds 1-5 are described.

Background: Housecleaning work has been characterized as precarious employment with unstable work hours, arbitrary and low pay and benefits, and exposures to chemical, physical, and psychosocial stressors. Understanding how interpersonal power dynamics between workers and clients, a component of precarious work, contributes to work exposures can inform and improve prevention programs.

Methods: We used reflexive thematic analysis of data from seven focus groups with Latinx immigrant housecleaners in New York City to explore workers' experience of interpersonal power dynamics with their clients-whom they referred to as their "employers"-and its influences on working conditions.

miR-208a-3p discriminates osteoporosis, predicts fracture, and regulates osteoclast activation through targeting STC1.

J Orthop Surg Res

January 2025

Department of Rehabilitation, The Affiliated Hospital of Youjiang Medical University for Nationalities, No.18, Zhongshan 2nd Road, Baise, 533000, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China.

Background: Osteoporosis (OP) frequently occurs in post-menopausal women, increasing the risk of fracture. Early screening OP could improve the prevention of fractures. This study focused on the significance of miR-208a-3p in diagnosing OP and development regulation, aiming to explore a novel biomarker and therapeutic target for OP.

As the mobile cassette carrier of the methicillin resistance gene that is transported across staphylococci species, the evolution and origin of Staphylococcal Cassette Chromosome (SCC)-and in particular, the composition of and SCC-have been extensively discussed in the scientific literature; however, information regarding its dissemination across geographical limits and evolution over decades remains limited. In addition, whole-genome sequencing-based macro-analysis was unable to provide sufficiently detailed evolutionary information on SCC. Herein, the cassette chromosome recombinase genes , as essential components of SCC, were employed to explore the evolution of SCC.

Lecturer in Societal and Cultural Transformation in Dental Education, University of Leeds, UK.

Cultural competence plays a pivotal role in dentistry and is increasingly recognised and studied worldwide. As the dental profession evolves to cater to an ever-diverse society, it is imperative that universities consider how they support students in acquiring the skillset for providing culturally sensitive care. Cultural competency in dental education is highly variable globally.
