Background: The purpose of this study was to investigate neuroendocrine function in ecstasy (3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine = MDMA) users and controls.
Methods: Prolactin response to d-fenfluramine was assessed in abstinent ecstasy users with concomitant use of cannabis only (n = 24, male/female 13/11) and in two control groups: healthy nonusers (n = 13, female) and exclusive cannabis users (n = 7, male).
Results: Prolactin response to d-fenfluramine was slightly blunted in female ecstasy users. Both male user samples exhibited a weak prolactin response to d-fenfluramine, but this was weaker in the group of cannabis users. Baseline prolactin and prolactin response to d-fenfluramine were associated with the extent of previous cannabis use.
Conclusions: Endocrinological abnormalities of ecstasy users may be closely related to their coincident cannabis use. Cannabis use may be an important confound in endocrinological studies of ecstasy users and should be looked for more systematically in future studies.

Predicting early treatment response in schizophrenia is pivotal for selecting the best therapeutic approach. Utilizing machine learning (ML) technique, we aimed to formulate a model predicting antipsychotic treatment outcomes. Data were obtained from 299 patients with schizophrenia from three multicenter, open-label, non-comparative clinical trials.

Background: Immunoglobulin A nephropathy (IgAN) and lupus nephritis (LN) are the most prevalent primary and secondary glomerular diseases, respectively, with several similarities in clinical presentations. Common pathogenic mechanisms in IgAN and LN have been well investigated by previous studies. However, the manifestation mechanism of these two independent diseases carrying distinct immunofluorescent pathological features is still unknown considering the similarities between them.

Endometrial collagen I undergoes dynamic degradation and remodelling in response to endometrial stromal cell (ESC) decidualization and embryo implantation. However, excessive collagen I deposition in the endometrium during the implantation window may impair decidualization, causing embryo implantation failure in patients with endometriosis (EMS). We found that endometrial collagen I expression during the mid-secretory phase was increased in the EMS group of patients.

Summary: Paediatric pituitary adenomas are rare in children and adolescents and differ from adults in both clinical presentation and management. We present the case of a 14-year-old female with primary amenorrhoea secondary to a macroprolactinoma, showing a modest radiological and biochemical response to dopamine agonist (DA) therapy. Despite a 10-month duration of increasing DA therapy, initial symptoms of primary amenorrhoea and hyperprolactinaemia persisted, with new symptoms of weight gain, lethargy and low mood.

Breast cancer remains one of the most challenging diseases to treat due to its heterogeneity, propensity to recur, capacity to spread to distant vital organs, and, ultimately, patient death. Estrogen receptor-positive illness comprises the most common breast cancer subtype. Preclinical progress is hampered by the scarcity of medication-naïve estrogen receptor-positive tumour models that recapitulate metastatic development and treatment resistance.
