Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths worldwide. If we can define and detect preneoplastic lesions, we might have a chance of improving survival. The World Health Organization has defined three preneoplastic lesions of the bronchial epithelium: squamous dysplasia/carcinoma in situ; atypical adenomatous hyperplasia; and diffuse idiopathic pulmonary neuroendocrine cell hyperplasia. These lesions are believed to progress to squamous cell carcinoma, adenocarcinoma and carcinoid tumors, respectively. In this review we summarize the data supporting the preneoplastic nature of these lesions, and delve into some of the genetic changes found in atypical adenomatous hyperplasia and squamous dysplasia/carcinoma in situ.

The present investigation explores into the influence of dietary nutrients, particularly alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), a plant-derived omega-3 fatty acid abundant in perilla seed oil (PSO), on the development of colitis-associated colorectal cancer (CRC). The study employs a mouse model to scrutinize the effects of ALA-rich PSO in the context of inflammation-driven CRC. Perilla seeds were subjected to oil extraction, and the nutritional composition of the obtained oil was analysed.

Objective: We aimed to investigate the epidemiology of human papilloma virus (HPV)-related preneoplastic and neoplastic vulvar lesions in a large cohort of women living with HIV (WLWH).
Materials And Methods: We retrospectively selected 1,796 WLWH who had a gynecological examination, cervical cytology, high-risk (HR-) HPV test, vulvoscopy, and colposcopy with targeted biopsies when necessary between 1987 and 2020 at 2 Italian institutions. Univariable and multivariable regression analyses were carried out to test the association of the anamnestic and clinical data with the development of precancerous and cancerous lesions.

This review provides a comprehensive overview of the evolving landscape of cancer vaccines, highlighting their potential to revolutionize tumor prevention. Building on the success of vaccines against virus-related cancers, such as HPV- and HBV-associated cervical and liver cancers, the current challenge is to extend these achievements to the prevention of non-viral tumors and the treatment of preneoplastic or early neoplastic lesions. This review analyzes the critical aspects of preventive anti-cancer vaccination, focusing on the choice of target antigens, the development of effective vaccine platforms and technologies, and the use of various model systems for preclinical testing, from laboratory rodents to companion animals.

The development of pancreatic cancer requires both, acquisition of an oncogenic mutation in KRAS as well as an inflammatory insult. However, the physiological causes for pancreatic inflammation are less defined. We show here that oncogenic KRas-expressing pre-neoplastic lesion cells upregulate coxsackievirus (CVB) and adenovirus receptor (CAR).

Background And Objective: Human papillomavirus (HPV) causes almost all cases of cervical cancer and its prevalence can be significantly reduced by vaccines. This study aimed to compare the prevalence of preneoplastic and neoplastic uterine cervix lesions in the cytology of Brazilian women aged 20-24 yr before and after the HPV vaccination campaign. The study also correlates these findings with the proportional coverage of first and second doses for this population.
