In this study, we examined the identification of fungi based on the sequence homology of the internal transcribed spacer 1 (ITS1) region. A newly designed primer pair could amplify the target region of all 42 strains tested. The PCR products were sequenced and the sequence homologies were searched by BLAST. It was demonstrated that this method is a reliable identification method at the genus or species level. At present, available databases are still insufficient to identify some fungi, but with the accumulation of further data in the ITS1 database, this method will be available for the identification of fungi.

Introduction: The emergence of livestock-associated methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (LA-MRSA) is a growing public health concern. The objective of this study was to determine the prevalence and multi-drug resistant (MDR) profiles of MRSA in goats in Bangladesh.
Methodology: A total of 150 samples from goats comprised of rectal swab (n = 50), nasal swab (n = 50), and milk (n = 50) were collected.

Introduction: Despite increasing awareness on the prevention of Ureaplasma urealyticum (Uu) infection, the high-risk factors responsible for infection in female patients in China are yet to be determined.
Methodology: The study included 3043 Chinese women. Cervical secretion samples were collected for Uu identification.

Introduction: Escherichia coli has emerged as an important pathogen in urinary tract infections (UTIs) due to the rapid acquisition of antibiotic resistance genes. This enhances the ability of E. coli to colonize and creates therapeutic challenges within the healthcare system.

Reducing the time required for the detection of bacteria in blood samples is a critical area of investigation in the field of clinical diagnosis. Positive blood culture samples often require a plate culture stage due to the interference of blood cells and proteins, which can result in significant delays before the isolation of single colonies suitable for matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) analysis. In this study, we developed a non-specific enrichment strategy based on SiO-encapsulated FeO nanoparticles combined with MALDI-TOF MS for direct identification of bacteria from aqueous environments or positive blood culture samples.

During our investigations of saprobic fungi, five fungal collections from terrestrial habitats in China and Thailand were examined using both morphological and multi-gene phylogenetic approaches (LSU, ITS, 1-α, and 2), resulting in the identification of three novel species: , , and . and are morphologically similar in their asexual morphs but can be distinguished based on their molecular phylogenetic data. In this study, our new species, , represents the fourth sexual species within the genus, characterized by yellow-brown ascomata and fusiform ascospores.
